The Omen Trilogy Varese set. Why can't they put the total times on the back of their CDs like everyone else?

Posted

They do with the club releases, at least.

Got The Killer Elite, Synecdoche New York, the Matrix Deluxe Edition, How to Steal a Million, and the Indy Collection a couple of weeks back. Good purchases- I've been enjoying them all. I was surprised by how much I liked The Matrix, I never had a particular love for the scores.

Received my copy of Twisted Nerve/The Bride Wore Black from Kritzerland.

I just bought "Long Live Sacred Germany" on iTunes, which is the only cue that stood out to me when watching Valkyrie.

I have been out of the game for a while, and just now received Intrada's A L I E N . It is absolutely wonderful to hear the music presented in such clarity. The liner notes are great, but surprisingly "taking sides" with Goldsmith over Ridley Scott for the editorial decisions. I do like the presentation as the composer originally intended, but a small part of me wishes they would have included the tracks from Freud as well, if only for historical reference.

Posted

Actually someone just needs to release Freud.

Posted

Yea it would have been silly to include the Freud tracks in the Intrada Alien set

Got the score to the first season of Mad Men. Great, great jazz music.

I really need to see that show. And The Wire. And the rest of Battlestar Gallactica. And Dr. Who. And Californication. And Dexter.

Isn't this it?

There has been no official release on CD, that one is a bootleg.

Start with Battlestar Galactica. Maybe you can be caught up in time for the final episodes (which begin airing next Friday, Jan 16!!)

Not a chance. I've only seen the first season, and I rarely find time for TV. It's far too time-consuming. And there are too many movies to see.

Posted

I still have an entire season of Battlestar Galactica to catch up.

Isn't this it?

It's a Tsunami, which isn't a bootleg in these parts as far as I know.

But I think it's an older release of an older score, so they probably just did a direct LP transfer. In which case I'd rather wait for a nice, remastered version.

Posted

The LP was a legit release I believe.

Funny, I have exactly the opposite problem.

hey guys how is the last years issued Images CD? is the soundquality good? or is it just a LP transfer?

Is it limited?

Images is superb. Get it if you can, I don't know if there's any left and too lazy to check. I'm sure Mark's on it. :)

It's the same as the LP but it has been remastered from the source. Sounds good to me. You'd probably like it since you're into that holier-than-thou artsy stuff. :)

Lool thank you! Nicely said! :)

It's the most unique score I own, so I would definitely recommend it.

That still does not answer my question. If I wanted to hear a guy vomiting, I would listen to the Pirates of the Carribean scores.

Posted

...it also features one of JW's best string themes (without any vomiting).

Blood Moon gave me chills when I first heard it. Overall, I find Images a terrific work, much more enjoyable than I previously expected. As far as vomiting is concerned, only one track contains something like this. The rest is just grunting and respiring. ;)

Since I didn't want a new duvet cover for Xmas and my brother did, my mum gave me £10 to buy something musical, so I used it as part of buying 3 digital albums:

Freedomland - nice low key, synth heavy JNH score, but I like its ambience for some reason

Bolt - extra value because I really like both of the songs too

Beyond Rangoon (guilty pleasure if ever there was one, but it was only £5)

I'm on a bit of a roll - my 'legit' collection is growing fast, thanks in part to 7Digital/Play where I can buy individual tracks I like without having to buy the CD. There's masses more I would buy this way if only it wasn't unreleased :)

My Thunderbirds CD hasn't even been dispatched yet (ordered 28th Dec), and Silva hasn't replied to the e-mail I sent yesterday asking what the hell they're doing... grrr.

Posted

Freedomland is an okay score. It's in the same vein of Dreamcatcher.

Bolt is awesome.

Beyond Rangoon is pretty good.

EDIT: Oops, looks like you already listened to them.

Posted

Yeah, I've already listened to most stuff I download. I just like owning music more than I used to, especially now I work and have real money.

Plus I never blind-buy even from my favourite composers - anyone can write crap.

The Princeton Record Exchange.

It;s literally right across the street from the Princeton campus, which is just 20 minutes from my college and a little over an hour from home.

It's just a local place, not a chain (unfortunately) - but the place is literally like a music mecca.

This is the place...

In Dreams - Goldenthal

That's a cool score.

Define cool.

As in probably the coolest one that I've heard in a while! A good mix of acoustic and electronic instruments gives it a nice texture, and the music itself is tense and interesting (from what I've listened through so far). I think you might enjoy this one.
