Incanus 5,890 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Yeah. And perhaps Nyman will use the materials for the 11th Symphony.

Matt C 605 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Roque Banos, not Zimmer, will score Ron Howard's Heart of the Sea:http://filmmusicreporter.com/2013/11/19/roque-banos-to-score-ron-howards-in-the-heart-of-the-sea/ Also, Steven Price (Gravity, The World's End) is scoring David Ayer's next film, a WWII drama with Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, and Jon Bernthal. That movie comes out November 12, 2014.
Neimoidian 15 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 This news actually got me excited: Roque Banos is to score the next Ron Howard's picture!http://filmmusicreporter.com/2013/11/19/roque-banos-to-score-ron-howards-in-the-heart-of-the-sea/#more-21253Moving from Zimmer to this terrific composer may be small step for a man, but giant leap for the Industry. Anyway, I look forward to it.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Don't forget that Horner used to be Howard's guy. There are directors that establish relationships with multiple composers.
Neimoidian 15 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Yes, I know. What I meant was that moving from uber-popular Zimmer to a (real) talent out of industry is extremely rare these days.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I suppose, but chances are Hans was already busy with something else.

Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 He should never have stopped working with Shore.
KK 3,313 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Yeah. Was there a specific reason that relationship stopped?
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Probably not. Looking at his filmography it doesn't seem like he's concerned with staying loyal to a composer, but just works with certain ones in spurts.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I think they just never got back together after parting on Zodiac. Fincher didn't want to pass up working with Shire, and the rest is history.

Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Is anybody else dying to know who'll score Ridley Scott's Exodus? I don't think Marc Streitenfeld has the chops to score a big epic like this and if Hans Zimmer is attached it'll be his 3rd interpretation of the same story. Harry Gregson-Williams is the best plausible choice. His score to Kingdom of Heaven was great before it was butchered in the editing stage. I'm secretly hoping he'll get a different composer like James Horner or John Williams (yes, I know it's incredibly unlikely). This is all assuming Scott wants a big orchestral score though.
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 It'll most likely be some RCP composer.
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Unfortunately, that's almost certainly going to be true but if I had to choose one project for JW to score in 2014, it would be Exodus. I know it's extremely unlikely but I still want to see him score a religious epic, especially after Spielberg dropped out of Gods and Kings (I'm still not sure why Ang Lee is directing, the plot summary said it would be a Braveheart style epic and his direction doesn't seem suited to that).
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I'd like to see Powell given a chance with this kind of material, but I doubt that they would even consider him -and I think he's still on vacation mode.Williams would be a fucking awesome surprise but I really doubt they're going for a traditional, big orchestral score; particularly considering we're talking about Ridley Scott here, who isn't a fan of the lush romantic style in the first place. In fact, I'd like if they went for a more Alex North-ian score for this: Big orchestra, but very complex and atonal chords. Morricone could pull off something like that real nicely...
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 It could be John Powell's new magnum opus if he gets attached to the project. Morricone would be great too.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Scott usually sticks with the same composer for a few films in a row. So depending on how happy he was with The Counselor, Daniel Pemberton is your best bet.
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Was his score to The Counselor anything special? His IMDB page is pretty sparse.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Yes he hasn't done much, which is why I was quite taken back when he was announced as the composer. Only knew him as the guy that did the funny pastiche music for the PC game The Movies.I have The Counselor but never listened to it. My vote goes to Streitenfeld coming back.
Matt C 605 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Patrick Doyle is scoring B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations for DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox... that comes out in theaters next year.http://filmmusicreporter.com/2014/02/04/patrick-doyle-to-score-dreamworks-animations-b-o-o-bureau-of-otherworldly-operations/I have to give credit to Katzenberg and DWA for letting non-RCP composers do their movies now.

Only knew him as the guy that did the funny pastiche music for the PC game The Movies.I have The Counselor but never listened to it. My vote goes to Streitenfeld coming back.Mine too. I've never understood the hostility towards Streitenfeld on this board, and I don't see a problem with him handling Exodus.Never heard a note of Pemberton's music. Very surprising choice from Scott to begin with.
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Patrick Doyle is scoring B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations for DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox... that comes out in theaters next year.http://filmmusicreporter.com/2014/02/04/patrick-doyle-to-score-dreamworks-animations-b-o-o-bureau-of-otherworldly-operations/I have to give credit to Katzenberg and DWA for letting non-RCP composers do their movies now. Wow! Desplat, Silvestri, Elfman and now Doyle! What a great list! Very interested in seeing who'll score Home, which comes out at the end of this year... With that list of composers, you know who I'm thinking of...
Matt C 605 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I'd like to see Horner score another animated film again. He does really well in that arena...
publicist 4,650 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Forget it. Per his own admission, he isn't keen on scoring animation and given he's halfway retired i don't see this happening. Would be great, though...
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 He doesn't like scoring animation? Why?
publicist 4,650 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 He just said that he prefers real-life over animation.
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 How strange... Some of his best works are for animation.Always felt that Balto had some kind of "farewell" feel to the medium.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Don't know if it's widespread but Joel McNeely is scoring A Million Ways To Die In The West.
publicist 4,650 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Always felt that Balto had some kind of "farewell" feel to the medium.Looking at JH's IMDB resumé, it seems like SPIDER-MAN was his farewell to motion picture scoring as well...
Jay 46,241 Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Don't know if it's widespread but Joel McNeely is scoring A Million Ways To Die In The West.Well, Film Music Reporter reported it 9 months ago....http://filmmusicreporter.com/2013/05/30/joel-mcneely-to-score-seth-macfarlanes-a-million-ways-to-die-in-the-west/
Jonesy 55 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Steven Price to Score Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’Interesting choice, I guess.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Well he's been working with Edgar Wright for awhile, so not really surprising.
Matt C 605 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I was hoping Wright would ask David Arnold to score Ant-Man. I guess their collaboration on Hot Fuzz was a one-time thing...
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 So what would the possibility of JW scoring another Oliver Stone film be? The MLK project seemed to be the best chance but Stone dropped out a few weeks ago.
Jonesy 55 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Fernando Velazquez to Score Brett Ratner’s ‘Hercules’
Jay 46,241 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 I'm glad Wikipedia was wrong (It said Lorne Balfe there until now)
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Could turn out good! (Even if the movie looks awful...)
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 IMDb says Joel McNeely is scoring the new Dreamworks pic Home. Any truth on this? Would be a great choice.
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Has anybody heard anything about the film, Paddington? It's coming out this December and doesn't have a composer. It seems like Alexandre Desplat would be the most likely candidate. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1109624/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Incanus 5,890 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 If we believe IMDB (which we do with a grain of salt) Dario Marianelli seems to be attached to the upcoming (2015) revamping of the legend of Peter Pan named succintly Pan.This could be something quite excellent if this turns out to be true.
Jay 46,241 Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 Jeez, as if there wasn't enough movies opening in the summer of 2015!
Jay 46,241 Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 Alberto Iglesias will be scoring Ridley Scott's Exodus, confirmed at the end of the new trailerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh6Hj4XJXH8
