Quintus 6,496 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I was gonna try watching this coz it has Malcolm Tucker in it, but I've realised I just don't have it in me to watch such nerdy science fiction and comparatively substandard television.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 You can always try a Christmas special
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Tonight I got the novelisations of Image Of The Fendahl, The Visitation, Revenge Of The Cybermen, The Curse Of Peladon and The Keys Of Marinus from my sister. She'd spotted them in an antique shop and got them for me, because she's nice like that .
buysoundtrax 69 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 FYI, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtWfeHWchloA New music video produced by BSX's Mark Banning based on our new recording of Murray Gold's " The Impossible Girl (Clara's theme)" from DOCTOR WHO. Enjoy. Ford A. Thaxton
Naïve Old Fart 13,023 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 You can always try a Christmas specialTry "The Feast Of Steven". It's the first time that Doctor Who breaks the fourth wall.
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 First ep of 'Revelation Of The Daleks' last night ... somehow doubt that a Dalek 2-parter nowadays would have the first ep end with the Doctor still completely unaware that it's his oldest enemies he's up against again, but it's happening here. Still, there is amusement to be had from Alexei Sayle's teeth-grindingly irritating DJ and the interplay between William Gaunt's assassin and his sidekick with questionable personal hygiene.
Naïve Old Fart 13,023 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 "ROTD" is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best Colin Baker story ever. It's directed with flair and panache by Graeme Harper, and features almost uniformly good performances from the likes of Eleanor Bron (no TARDIS in The Lourve, for her, this time!), and Clive Swift (yes, Mr. Copper, himself!).Best line: "I'm a past-master at the double entry". What does he mean?! It sounds great in 5.1 (thanks to Mark Ayres!) with The D.J.'s music whipping all around the sound-stage. A brilliant ride from begining to end.
Quintus 6,496 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Surprised I'm the first person here to mention the big script leak for the upcoming series.
Wojo 2,458 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I'm not interested in reading them, and felt that commenting on it would only encourage people to find them.
Quintus 6,496 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Good for you. I wonder who here will read them. Moffat hates you and doesn't consider you a true fan!
Wojo 2,458 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I hate just about every episode Moffat's made, so it works out.
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Me either - I've waited this long, why 'spoil' myself with only 6-odd weeks to go until the series starts?Last year, series boxsets that shipped before the last episode had aired ... this year, script leaks before the series has begun. What IS going on at BBC Worldwide?
Quintus 6,496 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-07-14-new-doctor-who-character-sure-looks-like-garrus-from-mass-effectLol
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Several shots of Malcolm Tucker as the Doctor now, but still none where he calls a Dalek a wanker shite-hog cunt!Dissapointed!
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 The glimpse of the T-Rex is reminding me of both Dinosaurs On A Spaceship and Pertwee's Invasion Of The Dinosaurs.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 It reminded me of Jurassic Park!
Quintus 6,496 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Indeed. I saw the trailer last night on TV and said I might have to give this series season a go. Then the dinosaur came into shot.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Skip the episode which will have the dinosaur!Come on man, it's Malcolm Tucker....you know you want to!
Quintus 6,496 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Yeah right! I'll watch Doctor Who when you watch Breaking Bad
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 It's onscreen for all of a couple of seconds in the trailer, and looked pretty good to me. Goddamn whinging mofos!
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Picked up State Of Decay for £5, so the E-Space trilogy is now complete (that'll please Richard, hehehe).
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 http://m.hollywoodreporter.com/entry/view/id/398478?utm_source=facebook PJ might direct an ep.
Richard P 5,303 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I thought most of the talk up to now had been crowd-pleasing PR stuff.I'll believe it when it's officially announced
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Like the 50th anniversary special, Capaldi's first episode 'Deep Breath' will also apparently screen in cinemas . SafeUnderHill 1
Jay 46,244 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Here’s a chart that lays out every Doctor’s lifespan on Doctor Who
Naïve Old Fart 13,023 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Picked up State Of Decay for £5, so the E-Space trilogy is now complete (that'll please Richard, hehehe). It does, but...Adric Are you going to see "Deep Breath" at the cinema? Apparently, it's a "feature-length" episode.
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I most likely will, yes.Currently enjoying The Silurians ... UNIT, Bessie, a pre-Porridge Fulton Mackay, a pre-Blake's Seven Paul Darrow and Pertwee in caving gear. Marvellous.
Naïve Old Fart 13,023 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 It's not!"That's cold-blooded murder!" Brilliant. Malcolm Hulke at his very best, and that oboe, eh?Now...check-out its companion-piece "The Sea Devils".P.s. if you truly value your mental health, never, ever watch "Warriors FromThe Deep", although it's just about worth it to see old matey from "The Survivors" trying to kung-fu a dragon (no, I am not joking! ).
Wycket 36 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Just to show how different some Doctor Who fans are, I actually prefer Warriors of the Deep to Silurians.Yes, the Silurians story is better, but at seven episodes its dragged out far too long for me and it probably doesn't help I watched it during a period when Pertwee was far and away my least favorite Doctor. Perhaps a rewatch is in order? As for Warriors, I actually liked the story. I've long beyond being bothered by bad sets, costumes, or lighting (especially in the 80s) so maybe that has made it more tolerable to me. Its still not great or even good by any means, but I seriously didn't see it as the abomination nearly everyone makes it out to be.
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I have Warriors From The Deep, but have yet to watch.Currently enjoying The Talons Of Weng-Chiang ... vintage Who at its absolute PEAK. A wonderful, wonderful romp.
Naïve Old Fart 13,023 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Indeed, and Leela looks fantastic in a dress!
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 They found a way to have her appear in wet Victorian underwear though, kudos to 'em .
Naïve Old Fart 13,023 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 That's Phil Hinchcliffe, for ya! Sweeping Strings 1
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 They found a way to have her appear in wet Victorian underwear though, kudos to 'em .Gonna need a pic of that!
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Indeed .Of course, the 'something for the Dads' element persists to an extent in modern-day Who (Amy's short skirts, for example) but I doubt it'll ever be as blatant as that scene again.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Well, this new Doctor Who is supposed to be very dark, so one can hope!
Sweeping Strings 3,421 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Have begun 'Silver Nemesis', McCoy's Cybermen story and (appropriately) the 25th anniversary one.
Wycket 36 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Watched The Seeds of Doom over the weekend. What a great story. Baker and Sladen worked well together, and all the elements came together perfectly. A nice rift on The Thing from Another World that shows a darker version of the Doctor. I'd love to see something like this in the modern series.
