JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Hey filmmusichttp://forum.blu-ray...light=digibooksApril 8th in the UK.not sure about a US release.http://forum.blu-ray...light=digibooksHere is the thread on Universals digibooks
Quintus 6,496 Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 Anything special about this new Schindler's release? Is the print improved or something? I'm not interested in special features.Well, the special thing about it , is that this is a BLuray! (with much improved quality over the DVD - I hope)Lol! Good point... I just assumed it was already knocked out on Blu in one if those quick Spielberg releases like Hook or something. My bad I'll buy it.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Hey filmmusichttp://forum.blu-ray...light=digibooksApril 8th in the UK.not sure about a US release.http://forum.blu-ray...light=digibooksHere is the thread on Universals digibooksThanks! That digibook seems lovely. if only it had Greek subtitles too (I doubt it).Not that i mind the English ones, but in case I want to watch it with someone that doesn't know English.By the way, the E.T. digibook I have, is one of my favourite Blurays as a presentation. (i bought it from Sweden, but it's in English)
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I found that all the SS releases from 2012 on bluray to be exceptional representations of great film transfers.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Jurassic park Trilogy UK Bluray set only £9.00!http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jurassic-Park-Ultimate-Trilogy-Blu-ray/dp/B004KKXMSI?SubscriptionId=AKIAIY4YSQJMFDJATNBA&tag=bluraycom-21&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B004KKXMSI&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLEthe thing is I don't want the 3rd one , even if it is free. But i'll sure get it along with the Indy box set.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 If 3 had only ended with the T-rex killing the the spinosaur I'd like the movie more. As seen in the film that spinosaur never existed and it certainly would not have been a match for T-rex. One was a land predator the other a water predator.

As seen in the film that spinosaur never existed. In my world Jurassic Park 3 doesn't exist. The franchise is an exact match for Jaws in that way in that there's only two movies in existence.
Nick1Ø66 8,330 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 The franchise is an exact match for Jaws in that way in that there's only two movies in existence. The same could be said for the Alien franchise.Except Jaws & JP actually only have one movie in existence each.
Quintus 6,496 Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Agree about Alien/s, even if the other two are still quite watchable. I just don't consider them canon, same as AvP.

I just don't consider them canon, same as AvP.in my minds eye Ripley, Dwayne and Newt lived happily ever after somewhere in the states.
Quintus 6,496 Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 That's my ending too. Ripley, Dwayne and their adopted daughter Newt are now living on a modest ranch just over the hill from Michael Landon.

Ripley, Dwayne and their adopted daughter Newt are now living on a modest ranch just over the hill from Michael Landon.Oh nice. Everyone lives happily ever after. And what is Bishop doing, passing out corn bread?I haven't heard of a crucial character getting so dissed since Chewy got robbed of a medal.
Quintus 6,496 Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 Bishop tended to the crops and became a horse whisperer.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 bishop was repaired and live happily ever after as well. but his journey lies along a different path, he went back to the Marines.
A24 5,156 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Jaws was clearly filmed in 2012 and they used vintage 1975 automobiles. Not to mention old school effects. I heard it wasn't easy to find them sculptors who made the shark.Blu-ray reviews of The Duellists.http://www.blu-ray.c...y/52668/#Reviewhttp://www.dvdverdic...listsbluray.php1) It's not a new master (but still good picture).2) Region locked to A.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 hobit release date coming soon, you'll be able to see an extended version.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I'm sure the theatrical version will be released first and the extended version just before the second film hits.I plan to see Skyfall once more before the Blu ray is released. It's playing in my local arthouse cinema
Bellosh 4,531 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Was gonna finally pick up E.T. on blu ray this week, is it worth it for the extras?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 It's worth it for the movie!
Bellosh 4,531 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 i know that, but I need solid extras right now for these types of purchases.
Bellosh 4,531 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 because. i really want to watch the extras MORE than the movie right now. ive seen the movie plenty of times, i want something new to watch. And if the extras are meh, then I can hold off.its not about money, but its about money.
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 its not about money, but its about money. You're a complicated guy, it seems.
Bellosh 4,531 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 They can validate my purchase I guess. I'm really over buying movies as of late. But I can stretch extras for these sort of films (Indiana Jones, Jaws, Star Wars..) for a while.simple question really!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I buy movies for the movies.Can't help you mate....
Bellosh 4,531 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 That's fair, and I do too. But don't got the money to be spending on movies as of late, and was going to treat this as an impulse buy.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 You can't call it an impulse buy if you have enquired about the extra's. It's a planned purchase now....
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 It's all the about the money for you, you whore!
Bellosh 4,531 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 i just still really like my vhs copy with the green bar.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I watched Frankenstein last night.what a beautifully restored film, again a revelation. You can see the love put into the film. Its amazing that a film that is 82 years old looks almost as if it was made last year.I was surprised watching the film that during the medical sequence the classroom was full of men and women students. Fairly progressive for the early 30's.
Quintus 6,496 Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Whoop, just spotted a bargain on my favourite shopping site - Total Recall Ultimate Edition and Pulp Fiction for five pound a piece! Kerching! Apparently the TR transfer is much better on this one compared to the cheapy release from a few years ago, which is probably the worst quality 1080p I've ever seen.
Jay 46,243 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Yes the new Total Recall bluray - called the Mind-Bending Edition here - is supposed to be light years different than the first crummy release. I want to get it!
Jay 46,243 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Six-disc Ultimate Matrix collection for $25 on amazonhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OPPBEQ/
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Good price. But i only need the first film Oh wait....i own that.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Six-disc Ultimate Matrix collection for $25 on amazonhttp://www.amazon.co...uct/B000OPPBEQ/for one movie.... past my 7.99 price point.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 My price point us 15 euro per single movie.
Quintus 6,496 Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Euros aren't much different to Sterling and 15 quid is beyond my price point. Most blus cost me between 5-8 pound and 10 is my maximum. Tell a lie, I did pay 11 for Blade Runner, but that was a one-off.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I think Blu rays might be a little pricier her on average
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Most titles below 10 Euro's are shitty low grade films. Though you do get lucky.
Quintus 6,496 Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 So would it be almost impossible to find the Jaws blu brand new there for 7 euros?
Jay 46,243 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 The Jaws blu ray is 10 pounds on Amazon UKhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003AQCZK4/
Quintus 6,496 Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 I paid 7.99 on Play.com http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/jaws-blu-ray-with-ultraviolet-for-7-99-del-play-com-1422513
