My price point us 15 euro per single movie.

that's almost 20 bucks, way past my price point.

Now like Jaws, ET, you know my favorite films I'll pay what has to be paid. but new films I wait.

If I didn't already own the Jaws dvd as well as seeing it a million times on tv I'd have coughed up the spondoolies and paid full whack for it.

That's my absolute limit, which I only crossed once 17.50 for Jaws.

Usually I get them when they are around 10 Euro's

I don't actually own a lot of Blu's yet.

I paid extra for Digibooks. But they have to be films I really really love to pay alot or they must be on sale. I got Patton on digibook for under 10 bucks. Paid 9.99 for Poltergeist on Digibook.

I got a bunch of films on blu for 3.99 at Christmas. they all have terrific transfers.

One of the films was Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

I have no interest in digibooks or fancy smancy covers. Its all about the film.

no but I do, and I indulge myself from time to time...as Spock allows Sulu to do.

I saw on one of the bluray.com forum threads that there will be a bluray release of Star Trek the Next Generations The Best of Both Worlds in the UK with a Us release to come soon. The two episodes shown as one with a featurette, gag reel, etc.

since I don't want all the STTNG on blu I'd gladly by this release, I'd also buy a release of just All Good Things.

oh and Stefan dear, 2 weeks to let the Skyfall.

I'd love to have the beautiful Amazon UK exclusive steelbook but at 14.99 pounds that's a bit steep.

Think it probably is here too. Mind you it's not been out THAT long has it? I remember when movies would remain in theatres for 6 months, to my frustration.

First Bond movie to cross or even get close to those figures.

It definitely has staying power. Its still playing here.

well, haven't seen it and I don't know if I'll do.\

I'm a classic films lover, and also can accept Daniel Craig as James bond, so...

also, the titles of this film are the most Kitsch film sequence I've ever seen in my life!

I thought Skyfall was brilliant. I've always had mixed feelings about Craig as Bond, I enjoyed Casino Royale but wasn't blown away with it, and thought Quantum of Solace was one of the worst Bond films. But they just nailed it with Skyfall. I'm not surprised it's done as well as it has. Well, maybe a little surprised, because Bond films never do these kind of numbers no matter how good they are.

Having said that, I only saw it once and am really looking forward to the BD. It's very, very rare I'll see a film more than once in the theatre anymore. The last time was The Hobbit, and that was just to see the 2D and HFR versions. Before then...I can't remember, probably ROTK.

Agreed, and the reason why is: Mendes, Deakins, Newman.

I have not kept up on this thread in a long time. Has there been any word as to when The Abyss will get a Blu-Ray release?

Posted

Abyss and True Lies are both apparently planned for this year.

Great film!

(Especially the Special Edition... the Theatrical Cut is just OK. It might be the film that is the most different from Theatrical vs Expanded version [i've never seen Kingdom of Heaven: DC])

[i've never seen Kingdom of Heaven: DC])

You really, really should.

I agree! I own the blu ray just need to find 4 hours to set aside to watch it :)

Limited edition for Schindler's list.

Although I'm not interested in all those posters, cards etc.

A plain digibook would be fine.

I betcha Best Buy will have an exclusive Digibook

I don't know....there's just something that feels wrong about a fold out poster and cards for that movie.

Posted

Who the hell wants photo cards?

Collectors of such things..

Yeah, but come on? Schindler's List? This isn't Transformers we're talking about.

Posted

You also get some old style 3D glasses with two red eyes instead of the green one so you can wear them and pretend your daughter has a red coat on.

Anyway, anyone know what's going on with the Remains of the Day blu-ray?

Saying Schindler's List shouldn't have collectible add-ons is like saying Saving Private Ryan should be in mono because having the best multi-channel audio track known to home cinema is tasteless and disrespectful.

Yeah, what's next? Django Unchained figures getting pulled for exploiting racism.......

I'm sure I've heard less apt analogies in my life, but at the moment I can't recall when. I promise you, the Normandy Landings were in surround sound!

Enjoy your strudel. Don't forget the cream this time.

I don't remember, has this been brought up?

Anyway, looking forward to it as it's one of those movies i grew up with and loved!

no, the digibook is available in England.

I'd love to have that Schindler's set, I love all the movie extras, photo cards. I still have a large collection of movie programs. I don't collect it to save untouched, I want to possess it so I can look at them from time to time. I still have the complete set of Jaws 2 bubblegum cards.
