Wojo 2,458 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I think I'm going to cook some Italian sausage for dinner. While listening to Quo Vadis.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Roasted sprouts with apple, red onion, garlic with smoked salmon
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 That sounds and looks fantastic. Except for the red onion. I much prefer scallions!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I don't like to cook with red onions, I prefer them raw. I like a good Vidalia but I doubt Stefan has access to those. But a Texas sweet or Hawaiian sweet or Peruvian sweet work. And with that dish I might have gone with a shallot. I love Brussels sprouts but I only cook them for myself.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 Tuna steam marinated in soy sauce and garlic. With oven baked brown mushrooms, paprika and kidney beans

Wojo 2,458 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I lost about 15 pounds since July, mostly by not eating junk food every day going out for lunch at work.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Just managing portions and not resorting to fast food or take away makes a lot of difference
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Down 7.2 kilo or 15,873283 pounds.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 Sprouts are great when you are on a diet!
gkgyver 1,647 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Friends of ours brought over a deer they shot, so we had roasted venison loins with homemade thyme gnocchi, brussel sprouts, pancetta and yam.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I thought you were vegan? Good God no. He's still an omnivore. He needs to come to my house and he will OD on red meat. Steaks burgers bacon pork ham chicken and turkey. No fish.Lots of veggies and beans.

JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Pico de gallo and chips.Could eat that almost ever day
nightscape94 968 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Today was my office's holiday party. I ate everything I could.
Naïve Old Fart 13,020 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Friends of ours brought over a deer they shot, so we had roasted venison loins with homemade thyme gnocchi, brussel sprouts, pancetta and yam.Someone tried to sell me 8 venison legs for $200. I said "Is that too dear?" P.s. the fish pic looks great. Too bad I don't eat fish, or I'd pop over.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 if you don't eat fish why would you think it looks great?
Naïve Old Fart 13,020 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Good point, but even though I don't eat meat, or fish, I can still appreciate a well-put-together dish. The picture is aesthetic, even without the food being appetising.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Footlong chilidog with slaw so good and delicious.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Brussel sprouts are one of the more expensive veggies right now. Since I'm off until the 29th I plan on going nuts in the kitchen. I found a beautiful skirt steak which I will marinate along with chicken breast to grill for fajitas. I am craving spaghetti and meatballs. I want to make some holiday foods too. I want to make a meat pie like Stefan and Ren discussed elswhere. I will buy a fresh turkey tomorrow. I will make cornbread Sunday for our dressing on Christmas. It will be perfectly stale when I prepare the dressing. Being stale allows it to take in more moisture. Oh yeah I want a mess of fried potatoes (not the same as french fries) this weekend. Everyone is invited.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted December 19, 2014 Author Posted December 19, 2014 Sprouts are ultra cheap here now
Jay 46,241 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Free lunch via work Christmas party today = bringing leftovers home to eat all weekend!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Sprouts are ultra cheap here nowperhaps they are popular there. Not here.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted December 19, 2014 Author Posted December 19, 2014 Its sprout season i guess.A much misunderstood vegetable
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I like them. Dave does not. They do stink up the house.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 Ive never noticed that. Making some now, in a mustard/olive oil marinadeOur Queen wasn't impressed by the concept.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I only want them battered and deep fried.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 Oven baked for half an hour At 225° Celsius. Dunno what that is in F
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 437f. I don't like that color green in cooked veggies screams under done.
Wojo 2,458 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 437 F. That's right in the range for roasting veggies. Usually I tell when something's done or cooked enough because it's black or smoking.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I do brussel sprouts by cutting them in half, removing the stalk, dividing each head into the individual leaves, and adding them to potatos, pasta, or on their own in a pan with some butter or/and oil. That way, they're done super quick, and I don't need to stink up the place by boiling the shit out of them.In fact, I had a chestnut soup the other day with some sautéed sprouts.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I bought some sprouts today. I plan on stir frying them till browned.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 Tried a recipe for spicey sprouts. Marinated them in sambal, soy sauce, garlic, pepper an salt for a few hours. Then stir fried them in olive oil with strips of bacon. With some oven baked potatoes and chicken on the side.
