  1. Madness from "Porco Rosso" Oriental Wind from one of album. Spirited Away is my favorite of his works. Princess Mononoke is epic. Howl's Moving Castle is light but dramatic. It's got a European flavor to it, especially with the accordion.
  2. Don't have the CD in front of me, but when I heard this at HB last year andgarbage I almost cried. The parts that did that were the double bass parts. The orchestrations are what really make it shine. Hedwig's theme's best parts were the strings part of the score.
  3. Sorry to revive an old thread from months ago, but I just saw this movie. It was really good. I liked the message it was saying and I liked how it didn't try to ram that important message down our throats. It was as, one reviewer put it, "visual orgasm". Unfortunately, I can't say that about themusic. The music was like trying to say "hey, look at me; look at me", but all I wanted to do was kick it to the (audio) curb. It was as bland and generic and quite boring. When you've got spectacular visuals, it's hard to pay attention to such blandness. Instead I ended up listening to the gorgeous animal/environmental gutteral sounds. Patrick Stewart as narrator wasn't too bad either. Great movie, great dvd. Go buy.
  4. I LOVE that version of Rainbow Connection. The orchestral score accompanying Kermit was so intricate and unique all on its own. That would be too bad if they didn't release it.
  5. I'll never join you. I don't know where you get your delusions, laser-brain.
  6. Cameron Mathison dances a Viennese Waltz to Hedwig's Theme. My jaw dropped to the floor when I heard it. The arrangement was alright. It seems they did an ok job simulating the strings part of the score. Unfortunately/Fortunately he was eliminated anyways.
  7. Hmm.. Medium coke, Buttered Popcorn/Reese's Pieces.
  8. Interesting rendtion of the Anthem, especially the Tuba(Bass) parts. Damn, that announcer's speech was....wordy. They were broadcasting the game but they cut off the anthem. I was like...."Fuck". So thanks for the link.
  9. In generalI'm all for gay marriage . But if no clues of Dumbledore being gay appeared in the books, I can't accept this as canon. Unless she's already planning to write "HP: The other tales" or something. Maybe there's some evidence in those other Hp-related books she wrote? like the quidditch book or something? And plus, to that above statement, he's gay, not a pedophile. Sigh... TO JK: Hurry up and finish that new book of yours.
  10. It was on this week. The guy (Cameron Mathison) who had the Paso Doble dance to do and the Superman March was sort of staccato-ish in the middle and continued with this marching band beat. The beat was slower than the original. The girl was the teacher, and sheez, she had like no clothes on. And the guy had a black Superman-like insignia shirt; but it has a big C on it. No cape though. He'd probably trip on it. He got triple 9 for the routine. Look for it on Youtube.
  11. No. According to english wikipedia, that kid wasn't Scar's biological son even he looked like him. That kid gets together with Simba's daughter later. So if he was Scar's son, they would have had an incestous relationship. That is a no-no for Disney storytelling...
  12. Error: There's no place like 127.0.0.1
  13. About the musical: The actor who performed as Scar played him somewhat effeminately. But then Scar asks Nala to be his mate. So, I guess not. By the way, I gave them a standing ovation. And I was the only one in my group. Dumb fucking group. I was kinda embarassed to be standing by myself. But hey, I did what I felt like. In the movie, I didn't think Scar had effeminate qualities, except for his voice You could blame Jeremy Irons for that. I saw the Beauty and the Beast musical too. That was also excellent.
  14. I really did like the movie. I saw this when I was in high school. And I saw the musical just recently in a foreign country. They used a lot of puppets and dolls to model the animals and stuff. The intonation of the words was somewhat odd for the musical. I wondered if it was the same in the English version? Did they pronouce words differently? About the movie: If I'm not mistaken, JW's son is the singing voice of the adult Simba. And I really liked his voice and the kid who did little Simba's voice. I just really liked the vibrato in there.
  15. artyjeffrey: What gear did you use to make your recording? an Ipod? I sat on the opposite section. The very left side of the Bowl, but much closer. I tried to sit as close as possible so I could make a good boot. A lot of good it did me because I was next to those idiots. I heard CMIYC at the July 1st concert (california philharmonic w/o JW) too. The July 1st concert was at the Walt Disney Hall, and the hall was a lot smaller than I imagined. The people in the concert hall were so polite and quiet. There must be something different about the way people act in open-air bowls and closed concert halls. I do agree that CMIYC was the weakest part of the concert. Personally, I like the "The Terminal" score a lot more and that would have nicer to hear instead of getting another repeat of CMIYC. I saw the saxophone player outside playing the jazzy Star Wars theme too, but he wasn't playing that well. I saw some people selling lightsabers outside the Bowl too.
