  1. Private Resort (1985) I felt like watching a shitty Spring Break style teen sex comedy. So my wife picked Private Resort, probably hoping to see some early Johnny Depp. From the box art, you could assume it’s a Depp vehicle, and you’d be wrong. Oh he’s in it a lot, but it seemed like he was Rob Morrow’s sidekick. No matter. You get two horny guys with zero backstory looking to get laid at the resort. Hector Elizondo plays “The Maestro”, a bumbling jewel thief who… Ah, who cares? There’s plenty of bewbs, bare ass from both Depp and Morrow, lots of physical Benny Hill style comedy, no tattoos, zero diversity (unless you count the two Sumo wrestlers), and the large chested woman from the Police Academy movies. Did I mention there’s bewbs? How the hell do I give this a number ranking out of 10? I’m not gonna even try. Sad fact is, I laughed at this stupid but entertaining time capsule. A throwback then even to those old ribald Euro sex comedies. They don’t and can’t make them like this anymore.
  2. It’s my favorite as well! Probably due to when I saw it and the score. That Amstel art is gorgeous too.
  3. Our preferences are such products of our generation.
  4. Mag7’s theme is so good, by comparison, the rest of the score can’t reach its heights. So it ends up being good, but not great.
  5. Thank you for being the only person to list a Bernstein score. Curiously, your list of classic vs newer scores seems to omit much of the great stuff from the 70s and 80s.
  6. Dances With Wolves would be a good start. BTW, I’m sure Jay knows I’m just picking on him in good fun. My top 50 would be all lopsided. And I have whacked out taste too. So, Jay, thanks for the snapshot of your mind and you keep on doing you.
  7. Look, forget about me for a minute. John Barry doesn’t make Jay’s top 50!!!!!
  8. I mean. I can’t pick at that… we all have to discover classic scores from before our time on our own time. I just purchased TGTBTU last year myself. But not giving a top 50 slot to one of Williams’s golden Masterpieces? While I’m at it, @Jay I should also ask you “What is best in life???”
  9. @Jay 1978 - WTF? Seriously, bro? Not in your TOP 50??? Speed 2? Earth Star Voyager? But NOTHING for ‘78? We need to talk.
  10. Conan The Destroyer is terrific fun with great stunts, Arnold at his physical peak, plenty of sorcery to go with the sword, and yeah a smashing good score. It’s a little more playful and sometimes easier to watch than the original. I love it.
  11. None of which I’m aware. I can’t imagine any of his other films having a lead performer merit an Academy nomination. But Roddy Piper deserved it for They Live.
  12. Wow I haven’t seen Starman since I was a kid. Need to watch that again or turn in my John Carpenter fan card.
  13. Young is white hot right now. John Powell is so last week! I have no Christopher Young scores, but Hellraiser is on the way. Is this one good?
