The Book Thief (2013) - New Williams film score!

Last 15 minutes of The Book Thief really did a number on me emotionally .Took me a few hours to recover

This happens very rarely to me. Only a few Video game cut scenes have had the same impact in recent years

That sounds ... quite sad, really.

Shallow, glossy and insultingly spoonfeeding WW2 picture. But i wrote that time and time again and cross it off the list as another thing me and hornist can lock horns over.

Erm, no. Only saccharine bs.

Also keep in mind that Pubs is German. He's watching a film in which the darkest chapter of his country's history is turned into a cloying sub-Chris Columbus fairytale, while the actors bastardise the Berliner accent into something straight out of 'ALLO 'ALL!

I think the film will be a classic, the time now is not ready for the films like this.

2013's The Book Thief is ahead of its time? Er, I don't think that's the reason for its lack of popularity.

Typo. I meant the time is not RIGHT for this kind of films.

And I can't believe I'm chatting with kids totally heartless(not you koray) and who think that the teenageturtleninja flicks are the gratest thing ever. And publicist, give me a brake, will you?

You should give some credit for the score even if you cant handle the film... Oh sorry, you dont like Johnny since he has some heart in his music.

The score is fine, if a bit shopworn. The notion that the music has 'heart' and the cynics can't take is really one of the old standby's of people defending James Horner and his more cloying tendencies, i. e. BICENTENNIAL MAN. It is a thieving mess, but its got a HUGE HEART!

Considering the film and its very modest aspirations, JW did exactly what was called for. But given the splendidly morbid tone the book establishes, i was bitterly disappointed by the Disney-ified one-size-fits-it-all tone and the terrible robotic political correct in 2013-lines the children were given.

Poor quality control. Both American and European pressing seems to have the same problem. And it is right smack in the middle of a track so it is an inconvenience.

And it's not a little glitch that can be removed easily in an edition software without leaving traces (I tried it), it's a big and ugly one!

Oh well. It does not bother me that much. I look pass it; for me, at least, it does not interfere with the Maestro's music in a major way. At least does not occur throughout the entire cue.

But it's not there on the Asian pressing! Woohoo!

Are you having me on, pulling my leg, joking, teasing and having a laugh?

Interesting that Max's Departure in the piano arrangement is actually the original unused one which Williams included on the OST album as the other half of Revealing the Secret track.

I really hate that... On the CD, there is a digital glitch on "Learning To Write" at 1:43.

Sony, Sony, you-hou???

I just noticed this for the first time this week.  So frustrating!

I ripped and reripped this track like 10 times trying to fix it, scrubbed down my disc.  Should have checked here first, I guess!

Pretty easy to correct with an audio tool, but... frustrating, yes.
