  1. Isn't this just a way of filling the message board? I mean everybody argees on the fact that a comparison between these two is merely blunt and cannot be considered legitimate? It is like comparing a duck with a robin. (for you the job which one the duck is and which one the the robin :-P)
  2. I've been there too!! I must say it was great from beginning till the end. I have to agree that Greg has a good point in saying the it was a pity that no new music was played. But some great music was played, even the violon solo from Schindler's list, jurassic park, the olympic theme, JFK and so on. I only could and can say onely one thing WOW!!! And then the chat with Maurice Murphy, the man himself. Talking about his experience with John Williams and that his first piece he ever played for the LSO was: Star War. On the question that the first notes for SW main titile were quite difficult, he answered that they weren't that difficult. My friend and I (both amateur musicians) had to laugh, because the first notes of the SW main title afterwards were really impressive. They really stood as a house and made a big impression. The only negative thing about the evening was the fact, as Greg already mentioned, that some people didn't came for the concert, but for a nice evening out! They were yelling and talking very loud, they even were standing and while having their mobile phone in their hand waving to each other. I mean come on, this was a serious concert. I came all the way from the Netherlands for seeing this concert, but nevertheless this was a very impressive concert!!! Greg I was probobaly sitting near to you, because I was sitting about half-way to the right. Greetings, Mark ps. I will add photo's later
  3. I don't know about the best supporting actor part, but surely the visual effects will be rewarded. When looking back in oscar rewarding history, I don't think one of the most prestigious oscar is awarded to any of the actors. It's unfortunate but probably for the better, because the acting is not the best I ever seen. This goes especially to Haiden, but let's not discuss this now! I think the oscars will be mainly focussed on the special effects. And of course a reward for our good old John, for his efforts in the six episodes, this means an oscar for best score inevitably! Mark
  4. Maybe someone has said it before in another post, for it has been ages since I have posted and looked on this message board. But when I was just surfing the internet, my eye came along an advert. When I clicked on it I came across some clips from the new included DVD 'A musical journey'. This might be interesting I think. It is in dutch, that's true, but nevertheless the links is what it all is about isn't it! You can find the info on http://www.download.nl/indexchart.php?url=...artstarwars.php Grtz, Mark
  5. Liars you are all looking forward to see Kate Beckinsale starring in this movie. Nothing more nothing less
  6. I don't think it will sell that much it will beat the current selling records, but I do think it will sell even better than Indiana Jones, although I'm not that certain on that too.
  7. Just shortly hook up on that crying thing of Shore. I must I had perfect places, so I could see extremely what was going on to the stage and for a moment I also thought Howard was crying or at least almost crying! I'm not that sure, but I could clearly see that he was overwhelmed with emotions. Mark- who has just found out that Sissel Kyrkjebø is Norwegian and not Belgian as first thought
  8. I' ve been there too!! It was really awsom! We had almost perfect seats, in front at the left side of the podium. We had a great view, we saw all the musicians and of course Howard Shore coming on to the stage from the background. Unfornately I wasn't able to take some pictures because the batteries of my digital camera were empty!!!! But that could not keep good mood down. I thought it to be a great concert in which all the great facets of all three movies were exelently put forward in a great mixture between the songs. Especially the singer who sang gollum's song and into the west, Sissel or something like that... What a voice wow... and well the eyes also want something to see so that was also taken care of by this singer... As far as the audio mixing is concerned. I have to agree that the sound was not quite well mixed. Especially the trumpets were not clear in the beginning they had problems finding each other, but they are forgiven. After the break I thought the sound mixing to be a lot better than before. In summary can I say just one thing. A wonderful concert for a wonderful evening!! Mark - who asks himself if this is the only concert Shore brings in Europe
  9. I've got tickets for his performance in Antwerp I can't hardly wait -Mark-
  10. I normally GOVX'Encore. It's very simple and very easy to learn. But morely I use it because I have to do some arranging work for the director of our fanfare orchestra. -Mark-
  11. Congrats ! And of course many musical years to come! Mark
  12. I haven't seen it (yet) Is it really that good?
  13. It would be a bad thing to recast the line up. No keep it this way if you like it or not Mark
