    • No. The industrey professional told it in private, to share such news is a violation of that trust even if your yourself didnt start the leak
    • No, if I am asked by the person who agve me the news not to share it, regardless of the fact that this person is doing so

A large part of the appeal of a site like JWfan is that it allows people to have access to inside news gathered by people from all over the world. Some from enthusiastic fans, some from industry professionals.

A small portion of this news comes from an industry professional telling a friend. Often with a "don't tell anyone"or "keep this to yourself" addendum imposed upon it. However, trust is a fickle thing, and it happens that suck little scoops do actually get passed around and end up on sites like this.

What is the morality of this though?

Surely the person who passed the info in the first place is acting dubious in one sense. Though one might argue that finding out tidbits of important soundtrack related news justifies such actions.

My own personal code is that if I'm told something in confidence and am then asked not to share it I uphold that pledge.

However if such tidbits pf news are passed around further along the chain, then what?

If you receive a juicy bit of news from a friend who got it from a friend who got it from a friend who heard it from an industry professional, then the question of morality become less clear.

Is it morally justified to share such news if you were not told to keep it under wraps?

Is it more or less acceptable to share it on an open forum or keep it slightly more discrete by using closed channels like private message systems, or closed groups?

This isn't really about morale but more about your willingness to burn bridges with said professional. As i already said in other places, fanboy glee notwithstanding, there often is precious little newsworthy or even remotely interesting about these tidbits.

Mostly, it's just a cheap way of letting fans doing marketing's job.

JWFan has never been my source of insider information though it is however a place I can check for confirmation or accuracy regarding any information of that kind.

Unless of said average Joe got permission from the composer (or professional) then yeah I'm against any information be blasted to the public if it was meant to be kept private.

We know sometimes the professional or composer will leak information themselves.

Only Jay is authorised to post news updates.

Everyone can share news on the forum, and Jay and I reserve the right to delete whatever is posted (which only happens in less than 1% of the cases). I'm responsible for everything that goes on the Main Page and the Facebook page.

That's how it works.
