La La Land Records - New John Williams release coming Black Friday 2013 [UPDATE: June 2014] [Empire of the Sun]

There's no guarantee #300 will be released or even announced in May. MV's latest comment on it said he was waiting for WB to approve it. There is no way to predict how long that will take to happen.

Let me squelch that fervor right now.

#300 won't happen until June (we hope it's approved soon)

May is gonna be a light month sadly with 1 title on May 6 and most likely 2 on May 20th. Wonderful titles but nothing mind blowing or historic.

I think ET&E is still miffed that the LLL release of Hook doesn't have the film insert for The Never Feast, presumably at JW's request

If it's WB and possibly Williams, could this be Harry Potter?

Unlikely, EOTS or JFK is more like it.

Why is it unlikely? MV said a few months ago that HP was so close he could "almost smell it" or something

yeah, I bet on HP1. Though it's a non issue technically . With our luck Williams will probably order to remove the teaser trailer music and the end of Your a Wizard Harry

Luckly it's the only bit on the bootleg that doesn't seem affected by tape distortions for some reason

If it's only these, you'll be VERY LUCKY!

You guys are hilarious in your purposeful forgettfulness of facts :)

MV mentioned way back last summer that they had a Williams release in the works - that's what started off this thread, his comment that because of The Book Thief, the expanded title would now be coming out in 2014.

It was only AFTER ALL THAT, in December, that he mentioned Harry Potter was so close he could taste it, or whatever the exact wording was.

It's therefore literally and completely impossible that the Williams title coming is Harry Potter. That's a cold hard fact! Of course, Harry Potter could also be in the works too - i truly have no idea. But even if they DID get the license late last year, there's no way it would be ready to go so soon, and the title that was almost finished last year it obviously going to come out first!

I love all the enthusiasm, and I want HP to come out to, but let's try to be realistic!

How does that mean it's impossible for HP to be the next title? MV could have been referring to HP when he initially said there was a new JW release...they could have had the license for quite awhile.

Huh?

They had a Williams title ready to go last summer, that they had been working on hard for a long time, and that they planned to release on Black Friday. But approval got delayed due to The Book Thief.

AFTER all that, MV made his comment about HP being close - meaning close to them getting the license, not close to being done! Once you get the license, it could be 4 months to 4 years until the title is actually out!

Sorry to be the party pooper here guys, I'm just stating the cold hard facts!

How do you know his comment was about getting the license?

 What wouldn't a John Williams fan misinterpret in the hopes of better prospects for his favourite score to be released. ;)

Sorry for the dumb questions, but I still don't see anything about getting the license in the quote. So, how does one know he's talking about getting the license? I am obviously not familiar with the initial stages of producing and releasing a score. So, my question is an honest one.

What the fuck do you need HP for anyway? All of you downloaded the complete sessions illegally - there's enough still unreleased material out there that should come out sooner.

And we're only talking about it because of MV's quote. So, it seems like it's happening... just a matter of when.

Some of us don't download sessions, and are anxiously awaiting an expanded Harry Potter score.

Yes and I want to support the label that releases it in expanded form.

There's 3 things at play here

-A JW title LLL was working on last year, that they thought would be out on Black Friday, but got delayed

-Their 300th title, which we know is a Warner Brothers release

-A random comment that they could possibly get a license for HP from WB.

There is no evidence whatsoever to support that all 3 of these are the same thing, or even that any 2 of them are the same thing.

And if number 1 is released, then it means 2 and 3 could be not that far behind (say 5-10 years?).

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban complete release takes precedence!

Just chill guys. We're speculating based on a few short remarks which can mean either. The only thing we do know: more JW releases are coming this year and that HP is possibly not far away. :)

I personally would like something else, but HP is fine (especially the third one).

Are these "illegal recordings" lossless?

The sessions for HP1 are in lossless. 2 and 4 have only leaked in mp3. 7 and 8 are circulating more privately, but also only in mp3 as far as I know.

Why would you want more Harry Potter music when there are better Williams scores to be released or re-released?

I'd really like a re-release of THE TOWERING INFERNO or a proper release of DRACULA (but that seems unlikely). Music friom Siegel's THE KILLERS would be nice, too.

Perhaps because we disagree that there are better scores to be released? Prisoner of Azkaban is easily my most wanted Williams expansion these days.

yeah, Azcaban is why we want the HP scores to see official release. The quality of the CoS sessions is not great either

I want the SW Prequels the most even if we have most of the music from the games

There are plenty that are better.

John Williams even said so in this interview.

Can't think of that many...

Dracula is impossible or so it seems

Patriot has lots of unreleased stuff but not holding my breath

EtOS has 1 cue I want

A.I. We have most of it on the promo, would be for Search for the Blue Fairie film version

A. I. needs a remaster more than it needs an expansion. PATRIOT is actually possible for LLL (Sony) and DRACULA...well, if James Fitzpatrick takes up the baton that would make me a happy customer.

Seriously The Patriot would be cool. I remember the film version of Susan Speaks was awesome. Plus unreleased statements of the love theme

Complete Jane Eyre and/or Dracula from Tadlow would be heaven.

I disagree. PoA is my most wanted complete release along with Temple of Doom, The Lost World and the Starwars Prequels as well as RotJ in good sound quality.

Some exciting box sets are on the horizon, not to mention some long-requested archival releases from John Williams and others

Doesn't tell us much, except that it will probably be something more high profile than Rosewood, for instance.
