pixie_twinkle 48
Absolutely loving my Bond 50 set. Watched Dr No on Sunday, and it absolutely blew me away. The opening Jamaica scenes have such detail and vibrance, especially in the backgrounds. For the first time watching this film I really felt I was there. I'm planning on watching a film a week in chronological order, which will hopefully bridge the gap until Skyfall gets released on Blu.

pixie_twinkle 48
I'll check when I get home. According to BluRay.com, Dr No has English and Spanish subs, but I'll check. I will assume that whatever is on Dr No will be the same for the other 21 films.

pixie_twinkle 48
Spy Who Loved Me is one of my favourites too. What do people on this board think of Moonraker? I've always really enjoyed it. The thrill it gave me as a child never went away. Yes, it's very comical, but then so is TSWLM. I've never understood why it's almost universally hated, at least in online communities. As a product of its time I think it's great fun. Just checked the subs on Dr No, and it's as BluRay.com said: English and Spanish.
Kendal_Ozzel 36
The screencaps I've seen of the TSWLM on Blu-ray look great. The Ultimate Edition DVD had some awful edge enhancement, and in particular I remember the rooftop fight with the bald guy looking really bad. I'm looking forward to revisiting that one. Call it a guilty pleasure. I was given it for my birthday last month, it looks great on Blu.for those who want the ET digibook from BB coming out next week. it looks like it's going to be like Jaws and in short supply. If you want to get it get there early.Bring a dvd you don't watch to trade in and get 5 dollars off, also go online and print off a $3.00 Universal Studios 100 anniv. coupon. You can get the digibook for 16.99 plus tax,No Koray, you can't get the digibook from Amazon. JoeinAR 1,949
As is OCTOPUSSY.Octopussy is a lot of fun with some tense moments.Moore himself said he couldn't be that Connery Bond, he had to do something different, but there is almost always a moment in all his Bond films where Moore steps outside his comfort zone and for just a few seconds is a very lethal Bond.I intend to pick up On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, and Octopussy.I might get You Only Live Twice and Thunderball for the right price.I love how For Your Eyes Only begins as a sequel moment to On Her Majesty's Secret Service. pixie_twinkle 48
I wouldn't even say Moonraker is a "bad" movie. There are just too many great scenes. The opening skydiving scene is amazing. The entire carnival scene is exciting and tense, especially Jaws appearing in the alleyway. I always loved the boat/waterfall scene (even if the version of the 007 theme is too slow!), and Michel Lonsdale makes a very effective villain. Love the cable car scenes. Damn, there are just too many great scenes for this to be considered a bad movie. Also the score and title song are both excellent. Yes, it all begins to fall apart under its own weight during the slow, ponderous outer space scenes, but the final scene makes it all worth it. "I think he's attempting re-entry, Sir".As for the whole Blofeld storyline not making sense from You Only Live Twice to OHMSS (how come Blofeld doesn't recognise Bond in when they meet in OHMSS???), from OHMSS to Diamonds are Forever (How come Blofeld is no longer bald, and has miraculously recovered from his neck injury despite the fact that this film clearly is set immediately after OHMSS, hence Bond angrily going after Blofeld at the start), and Diamonds Are Forever to For Your Eyes Only (oh hang on, Blofeld IS bald and in a wheelchair after all, never mind)... it makes no sense whatsoever, so I just watch each film on its own merits and have fun with it. Unlike many franchises that include several changes of main actor throughout, the Bond series makes no attempt to explain how the Bond of the computer age is the same 40-year old as the Bond from the cold-war era, or how the last few "prequel" stories are clearly set in the 2000s whereas the Connerys are clearly from the 60s. None of it makes any sense, but it's all terrific fun. I just take each film on its own merits, and hope they keep any references to earlier films to a minimum so as to avoid my getting a headache trying to come up with a rational explanation for the logistics of it all. Koray Savas 2,251
I think there was an article on IGN that tried to give proof that Bond was the same person that never aged or something like that. It was amusing so see all the work they put into it, but none of it held water.
pixie_twinkle 48
The Daniel Craig films are not prequels at all, its a total rebootAh, I didn't realize that. Especially since M is still played by Judi Dench. It probably helps to just think of every Bond film as a reboot. Far fewer headaches.
Jay 37,363
yes, for some reason they kept the same actor for M, but otherwise its a complete and total reboot. They are theoretically free to remake the older plots as time goes on if they choose (but so far they've chosen to write original stories post-Casino Royale)
Gruesome Son of a Bitch 6,488
It's all different universes with similar concepts. Like Batman.
pixie_twinkle 48
It's a bit different from Batman and other reboot series though in that all the Bond films are still considered part of the official Bond "series". Until Skyfall was named it was known as Bond 23. I doubt they'll go back and remake earlier storylines because the series would be repeating itself (some would argue that the Bond films are similar enough already without remaking old storylines!). I'm having trouble finding that version on their site.from one Joe to another.E.T. DigibookJoe it's cheaper if you buy it at the store, it's on sale for 24.99. I'm a teacher, so I can't get to the store during the day, and I have a rehearsal until 8pm that night. And if this turns out anything like Jaws then I won't be able to find it if I don't order it! A24 4,333
Finally got The Avengers on blu-ray. Movie was disappointing. Why? I mean, it seems to satisfy most people so it's always interesting to hear a different view. Personally I thought Whedon succeeded to elevate the Marvel series with a notch or two. I was very, very bored with the big long generic 'war' scene at the end of the movie though.Alex
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
It's the best of the recent string of Marvel films. I might buy it in a year or two if the Blu goes for 6 euro. But it's not worth more then that.
