I'm sorry, but Federation ships would never have those. The Defiant was one of the most heavily-armed ships in the fleet and created to defeat the fucking Borg and it never had anything like that. I guess it's supposed to be a warship in this universe, but isn't that just a bit over the top? The interior is just so awful and a huge disappointment after decades of wonderful starship designs. I would never want to be on this ship or in this universe. Engineering, historically one of the coolest locations in Star Trek, now a factory. The masses are bothering to see these films and therefore, these films will remain shallow and lifeless for the foreseeable future. I take solace in the fact that Giacchino has been writing a handful of genuinely interesting (to me) cues for each installment of Nutrek so far.
