Stargate: Continuum by Joel Goldsmith.

Is Continuum getting a score release? I know on Gateworld they said The Ark Of Truth is but I haven't read anything about Continuum yet.

If TAOT is getting a soundtrack release, Continuum will likely get one too.

Prince Caspian, since I really like the first score and am looking forward to hearing both new themes and new incarnations of previous ones, as you said (glad to hear you like the first score too Ted - it doesn't seem to be regarded very well around here aside from John Crichton, me, and a few others).

You can count me in as one of those others, though I do feel parts of it are boringly average. I'm looking forward to Prince Caspian, but my main worry is that it'll be pretty much just a re-hash of the first

I will be disapointed if the new enemy civilisation does not have Spanish or pirate flavour music, since they are descendants of Spanish pirates from the Conquerors era.

To tell the truth, I'm really not paying that much attention to new score releases any more.

Over the past year or so, re-releases and expansions or just premiere releases of old material have garnered much more interest from me.

Right now, I'm mostly looking forward to the third Lost album.

You are wise young one.

I understand, but the apathy towards Indy still seems strange. It has to get a fan at least a little excited.

Well I can understand it feeling a bit unreal, Indy 4 is something that's been talked about for years. But it's been a long time since Geisha came out, at this point I'd get jazzed up for just about anything.

just 2, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and The Happening, incidently the only two films being scored this summer by great composers

Agreed and agreed. Maybe it's my inner fanboy.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by John Williams!!!

Does this need any explanation? The fourth film in my favourite film series with a score written by the best film music composer ever, who hasn't composed anything for two years and has expressly stated that he's looking forward to scoring this one?

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian by Harry Gregson-Williams

I liked the first film and am looking forward to the next one. Hopefully we'll get an interesting sequel score as well.

Speed Racer by Michael Giacchino

What I've seen from the trailers looks STUPID, but hopefully we'll get some good music.

Ehm... did I mention Indiana Jones IV yet? :P

I think I might rather an RC composer I know almost nothing about than a predictably solid, but not exceptional Debney score (which, for me, means every single Debney score save Cutthroat).
John Debney has written some other worthwhile stuff. Lair is really good, only second to Cutthroat Island and Hocus Pocus and White Fang 2: Myth of the White Wolf are also really quite good. They might be a bit predictable, but definitly in a good way. ;)
But everything else absolutely pales in comparison with my anticipation for Indiana Jones. ABSOLUTELY. PALES.
I cannot but agree with you on that one!

Now THAT would be REALLY cool. I hope HGW does that! :D

Let's bring this one back...

I wonder what Howard will do with The Happening. He tends to get very creative with Shyamalan movies.

If The Happening is anywhere near as good as his last Shyamalan project, I'll be very happy. I really don't know what to expect from the film, though; the trailers make it look pretty horror/thriller-ific, which doesn't say much since his last two films were advertised as such and were anything but. Hopefully it gives Howard a great canvas to work with.

His synergy with Night, is equal to John and Steven IMHO, not one misstep at this point. JNH has more than kept his end up moreso than Night.

My understanding of the Happening (previously title the Green Effect, which I read btw) was that it was such a good story that people wanted to get it away from Night after Lady. I'm hoping that the failures of Lady is beneficial to Night in the long run, and in the short run for this film. Remember how strong Spielberg came back from 1941, lets hope Night is at minimum 50% as successful.

I agree.

And I thought JNH's Lady in the Water was his second best score, only Signs is better.

Can't wait for:

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

The Happening

The Half-Blood Prince

I'm sort of interested in:

Prince Caspian

Speed Racer

Wall-E

1. Signs

2. The Village

3. Lady In The Water

4. The Sixth Sense

5. Unbreakable

I'm expecting The Happening to fall somewhere in the top 3 spaces. JNH has been on an amazing streak, all of his scores from last year have been excellent.

Giacchino tv scores over Indiana Jones KOTCS, please, and you're supposed to be the moderator here at JOHN WILLIAMS FAN NETWORK, HOW SAD.

Well, then it's a good thing I'm not moderator. I totally echo Marc's sentiments.

I'm A Giachino follower but i'm with joe in this one.

KOTCS is the thing to anticipate for this year.

Indeed!

Ratatouille made me a believer in Giacchino, but I'm still not gungho about him. James Newton Howard, on the other hand, has quickly become my next go-to composer. More than any other current composer, I find myself ready to buy Howard's scores when they're released. I've come to expect great quality from him, except in cases such as RV or Freedomland.

You mis-read Marc's statements. He's waiting for KOTCS to get closer before he gets excited.

I agree with him, I'm more interested in what Varese, Intrada and FSM (To name a few) are doing but a new Williams score will take priority once it gets here.

OK, but you dont wait for intrada or the other labels to announce its releases. You do what most of us do for Indy IV, anticipate and fantasize, weeks before.

Well, let's put it this way: I'm already on a Lost mode. I'm not in an Indy mode yet. In fact, the whole thing still seems so far away.

The scores I'm looking foward to:

I'm not interseted in the Iron Man score. Djwadji or Debney wouldn't have excited me. David Arnold would've been perfect for this (ID4 meets Casino Royale). The score was what I expected. Believe it or not it didn't hurt or help the movie so basically it did nothing. The movie delivered . I think it's one of the best Marvel movies.

Indy 4 . JW scoring a movie again which was three years ago but feels like 10. The movie looks interesting too.

Speed Racer. Giachinno scoring which is perfect casting when you think about. Plus the Wachowski Bros. get the best out of their composers ex. Don Davis in The Matrix Trilogy. Movie does look silly and cartoony. Still interseted in seeing it at least for the visuals.

Just like the first one. I don't give a crap about Prince Caspian score or movie.

The Incredible Hulk. I liked what Elfman cooked for the other Hulk film and am interested in what Craig Armstrong comes up with. This is his chance to prove himself and show us what he's got. The movie looks like a dumb comic book action movie that'll only be better than Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four movies, Elektra, Blade Trinity, X3, Spidey 3,etc. I don't thjink it'll surpass or even rival Iron Man. IMO.

The Happening. JNH is gold when he's scoring an M. Night movie. As for the movie I don't trust Wahlberg but the movie does have an interesting plot and M. Night going R-rated in this one so this does peak my interest.

Wanted. Danny Elfman is scoring it and that is the ONLY reason why I'm interested in this movie. The movie took a crap on the Graphic Novel.

Wall-e. This is a different genre for Thomas Newman to tackle. I'm talking about sci-fi. So i'm interested to see what he comes up with eventhough I'm not really a big Newman fan. The movie looks dull. The guy that directed Finding Nemo directed this . I thought Nemo was decent nothing else, but overrated.

Hancock. I'm just interested to see what Jon Powell comes up with because I think Hancock should be scored in the direction of X3 and less like United 93 and the Bourne movies. But with Peter Berg directing Powell's probably going to go the Bourne movies and Jumper direction. The movie looks interesting too.

Hellboy II. I'm sad to see Beltrami go because he really added a lot to the first film and a lot to Del Toro's movies. Since I enjoy a lot of Elfman's scores I can forgive Del Toro. It is interesting to see what Elfman comes up with for Del Toro. He always seems to get inside twisted directors head with his music ex. Burton, Raimi, and Barker. The movie looks amazing. Plus it's a Del Toro movie it already has my ticket.

The Dark Knight. I wasn't happy with the last score or film . But this new movie looks to be the Batman film Begins wasn't. You're hearing this from a BIG batman fan.The score suck or not I'll buy it because I'm a completist. I don't know yet if the score is going to be good especially if Zimmer says Joker has two notes for a theme. Sad if this film delivers and the score doesn't. At least BB was uninsopired for me as well as the score. So Zimmer had an excuse the last time.
