  1. That string swell/sting right before the title song is tracked, IIRC. Also missing is the film version of Blunt Instrument (the ending is different on the album).
  2. That's a loop from one of Spectrasonics' sample libraries. These popped up in TV and movie scores all over the place in the late 1990s and into the 2000s, and continue to do so today on occasion. I noticed them cropping up so often that about 20 years ago I started a list of everywhere I heard them. The first Tomb Raider film uses them liberally, for example. What irks me with regards to this release -- and I wonder if someone can help -- is the total lack of credit for Craig Armstrong's badass cue, "Lab Scene", which is the second part of "She Escaped/Break In" on Disc Two. The cue is credited in the film's end credits, the DE liner notes mention that the cue remains in the film, and it finally gets its debut release on the DE... but it's renamed "Break In" and no credit is given to Armstrong at all. Why is this? I know legalities are complex when it comes to issuing film scores and even writing about them (copyrights, NDAs, unions, etc.) but I waited nearly 20 years to get this piece, and yet it's been renamed and implicitly credited to Silvestri? It's clearly Armstrong's "Lab Scene" cue, so can anyone explain the story behind this? (As an aside, is the following track -- "Shoot Her Between The Eyes" -- Silvestri's original cue for the lab scene before Jan De Bont opted to keep Armstrong's cue instead? I've not seen the film in years, but I am sure the cue name refers to a line in the lab scene and the fact that it is marked as unused suggests it may be Silvestri's rejected piece.)
  3. The Q1 through Q4 tracks are unused ideas/cues/demos/suites that do not appear in the film.
  4. They're suites that were not written to-picture, so they are probably best served by being placed at the end of the program as kind of bonus tracks.
  5. Does anyone know how to download or at least stream the AAC files for, say, Tenet and WW1984? I click the links, get a WinAmp playlist file and all it does it load about 20 10-second clips that refuse to play. Would really like to be able to listen to these offline if at all possible.
  6. Does anyone have the full and complete cue list for Face/Off (1997)? A number of years ago, a seller on eBay had the second disc of a 1999 two CD-R set called "Face/Off All Cues" that featured the following tracks: 1m3 Version 1 Airport 2m4 Version 1 Hangar 3m8 Version 2 Champers 9m34 Rape Car Source 9m35A The Knife 9m35B The Knife 10m36/10m38A Gun Fight 10m36/10m38B Gun Fight 10m36/10m38C Gun Fight 10m36/10m38 Gun Fight 10m36/10m38E Gun Fight 10m36/10m38F Gun Fight 11m40a Showdown 1 11m40a Showdown 2 11m40c A Showdown 3 11m40c B Showdown 3 11m42 Travolta's Strut 11m43 Next Move 12m45 Church 12m46a Garden 12m46b Garden 13m47 Boat Chase 13m49 Beach Party 14m50 Face On Presumably someone, somewhere has this set and can shed some light on the slates for all the other cues?
  7. Using "session leaks" to obtain slates/cue names is not an ideal method. Traders/leakers often rename slates or titles to track "their" leak. Getting the correct slates and cue titles from somewhere like cocatalog.loc.gov is the only way to be sure of getting the right titles.

  9. How do you locate slates on ASCAP? I only ever see cue titles.
  10. I have a cue list, I think, but I don't have the 2CD boot, so cannot do a track-to-slate comparison as I did here.
  11. I've had the 2CD edition of this score for some time now but the track titles appear to be a combination of fan-made titles and the OST titles. I'm trying to title the cues correctly - does anyone know how the official slate numbers/cue titles match up to the contents of the 2CD set? I've tried to match them up below but there appears to be some gaps. Can anyone help me out? (What I think are the corresponding 2CD titles are in bold.) 1m1 Main Title (The Legend Of The Scorpion King) 1m2 Tomb Raider Rick (Searching The Tunnels) 1m3 Do it Your Way (The Family O'Connell) 1m3A Been Here Before (I've Been Here Before/Mouse Traps) 1m4 Evy's Flashback (Visions Of The Past) 1m5 Just Had A Vision (Unlocking The Door) 1m6 Slingshot Marksman (This Place Is Cursed) 1m7 Scorpion Shoes (Scorpion Shoes) 1m8 Lock-Nah And Meela (Hamunaptra) 1m9 Imhotep Unearthed (Imhotep Unearthed) 2m1 Just An Oasis (Just An Oasis) 2m2 Bad Guys To The Manor (Visitors At The O'Connell's) 2m3 Bracelet Awakens (Bracelet Awakens) 2m4 Have I Kissed You? 12. I have a question about a curious situation for anyone in the know. Does anyone have a complete, genuine cue list for John Powell's Face/Off (1997)? Taking only a handful of cues as examples, the Media Ventures double CD-R set from 1999 lists the following slates and titles: 9m34 Rape Car Source (0:53) 9m35A The Knife (2:23) 9m35B The Knife (2:45) ... 11m42 Travolta's Strut (0:37) 11m43 Next Move (1:29) ... 12m46A Garden (2:50) 13m49 Beach Party (3:25) 14m50 Face On (3:07) On the unofficial Hans Zimmer website, the website team has these cues retitled thus (titles in bold are taken from ASCAP, and although they do not have slates, I assume the titles refer to the same cues]: Rape Car Source (unused) (0:53) [Carl's Car] - the 'unused' moniker appears to be wrong, as there is source music playing from the car radio in this scene The Knife (2:23) [same] Castor's Son (2:45) ... Castor At The Hospital (0:37) [Archer's Strut] Sean's Move (1:29) ... Standoff (2:50) [Mexican Standoff] Ready For The Big Ride, Bubba (3:25) [same] Homecoming (3:07) [Face On] Putting the unofficial Zimmer site aside (which has readily admitted to making up track titles when the real ones are unknown), the two official sources we have for cue titles are the Media Ventures CD-R set and the titles registered with ASCAP. Which of these two sources is right? ASCAP has a whole list of other titles that do not appear on either the CDs or the unofficial Zimmer site. It's a confusing situation. So my questions really is, does anyone know which titles are (the most) correct (CD-R or ASCAP) and what the slate numbers are? I am sorry if this is confusing but I tried to make it as clear as possible.
