Josh500 1,615
Not the biggest fan of JNH, but I always thought this scene from The Fugitive was especially well scored.https://youtu.be/ozcoTYhpU8U

leeallen01 2,133
Definitely agree with 'Mona Lisa Overdrive.'Some of my pics would be 'The Hand of Fate Part 1' and 'Tooth and Claw' from JNH's Signs and King Kong respectively. And his Score for SALT is a masterclass in action inventiveness, specifically 'Chase Across D.C' which couldn't be more creatively written. As the film is about countless different emergency organisations like general Police, CIA, F.B.I, Russian forces, even Ambulance and Fire Services are involved in actions scenes, so JNH uses the orchestra as sirens. The entire piece is basically how many different ways can you create an emergency siren sound with the orchestra. Brilliant. Also 'War' and 'Hard to Starboard' by Horner from Avatar and Titanic respectively. And I also have a fondness for 'Sab Than Pursues the Princess' from Giacchino's John Carter of Mars. Uni 306
This is such a specific metric you're after here, I'll have to give some thought to it. I had a hard enough time coming up with 10 pieces I consider to be the best of a single composer; coming up with a list of 10 pieces from all the composers in my library, but which only fall within a limited categorical parameter, is something I've never really considered before. However, I can't seem to resist any kind of Top-# list when it comes to this subject, so . . . looks like I've got some homework to do. Thor 7,463
I wouldn't know where to start or end without a lot more parameters. But people keeping bringing up Goldsmith in this thread, so I think I can say my favourite action cue by him is "Night Boarders" from THE MUMMY.
