  1. Ah yes, now I remember why I left this forum months ago. At least I got a laugh out of IndySolo's sig. A fair bit of irony in that.
  2. I've got clips from the show. Everything except for the songs - bleh! I'm trying to figure out a way to host at least the Soundings segment. It's 47 MB in QuickTime 6, 320x180, 30fps. If you can help host it, drop me a message. Or is this illegal? It's been so long since I've last been here that I've forgotten what is accepted on this board and not.
  3. Vilmos Zsigmond is my choice, based soley on his work in Close Encounters. He made great use of natural lighting, especially in the opening desert scene (assuming that Zsigmond actually shot this part) and the Wyoming day time scenes (Roy and Jillian see Devil's Tower for the first time). The blinding light for the film's finale starting with the appearance of the aliens is simply amazing. The amount of light needed for those scenes must have been incredible - a daunting task for a cinematographer. According to all reports it was excrutiatingly hot in the hanger where they shot it. Slocombe shot the scenes in India which actually do a great job of matching Zsigmond's typically brown ochre color scheme. According to IMDB, there were 11 DPs altogether for the film (several for FX, probably). But it's Zsigmond's work that I particularly enjoyed. As for Kaminski, Schindler is very beautiful and I actually liked the cool flavor to Minority Report. AI was shot well too, but Lost World, Amistad, and SPR seem fairly dull to me, from an aesthetic point of view. My least favorite Kaminski/Spielberg collaboration is Catch Me If You Can. Any time a character in an interior scene stands next to a window, there is this inredibly blinding light shining through, to the point of washing out all tone on the subject. I swear it looks like a nuclear weapon is being continually detonated just oustide the window, and the person standing in the window doesn't seem to mind. In CE3K, people react to the blinding light, and there is great purpose behind it. In CMIYC, it's a boring stylistic effect which seems very out of place for the mood and content of the film. God save us if Kaminski does Indy 4.
  4. I have a hunch that the background is already composited in that shot. They can do a quick and dirty Blue Screen composite on the set for stage monitors while shooting to give the actor and director an idea of what the shot will look like when it's done. But, you never know. Maybe the Aussie construction crew has been hard at work afterall... So that is Hayden C, right?
  5. It might help if we can see that list. Anybody still have it? And what would be wrong with using that list as a guide to make your compilation? And how are you going to make this compilation? MP3s?
  6. I thought Dobby looked excellent. But what's even better, I didn't even think about CGI when I saw the Quidditch scenes. That's funny. The first thing I thought of when I saw those shots from the trailer was "podracing" especially when Harry is about to crash into something.
  7. The key word in there being "sometimes." The nature of Star Wars is not to be diminutive. It is a large sprawling saga.
  8. I doubt that. Lucas wouldn't allow it. It'll be matted into a Letterbox preserving the original aspect ratio.
  9. Do any of you guys ever visit the main page? There you'll find a link to this article: http://jwfan.net/modules.php?op=modload&na...order=0&thold=0 where it says that the clip can be viewed here: http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/web/dail..._Second_Trailer in streaming Real Player, Windows Media & QuickTime, OR here: http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/h/harrypotter2.php where you'll find direct links to the downloads. Ricard Ricard, you forgot this one: JWFan.net Message Board Thread on the Trailer How could anyone have missed that thread? You can't mistake the thread title for anything else (unlike this one). Something fishy is going on here, and is smells like thread redundancy. But take what I say with a grain of salt because
  10. If you're interested, here's a link to download the large QuickTime version. Harry Potter - Chamber of Secrets Trailer 2 (QuickTime, 17.3 MB) Enjoy!
  11. I care about some awards since it is a way for people to be publically recognized for their accomplishments. Seeing John Williams, for example, being handed a trophy for a film score is much more interesting than reading message boards about how so-and-so liked or disliked that score. Granted some award shows are simply Untill this morning I hadn't heard of the IMAs and so I know nothing about them, but if the majority of some unknown segment of the public voted John Williams as composing the best score for (well, not the year 2002 - perhaps for the month of May) then I would agree with them and be glad that Williams gets awarded for his job. If I were JW I would probably be more pleased with my shiny new IMA trophy than knowing what George Lucas et al did with the score.
  12. Perhaps the requirement for nomination was "Actress in a Star Wars prequel released in 2002 who's name ryhmes with "Atalie Ortman."
  13. I'll take that bet. -MoffJake, rolling in money:
  14. That would be Worf and Troi. Just kinda came out of nowhere.
  15. Of course there's also that shot of the bird of prey banking and cloaking as they leave the Amargosa observatory. Looked quite similar to something out of Star Trek 6 again. DS9 - best trek ever. By the way, what's with the long tradition of the Seventh Season romance? For Enterprise I'm thinking it will be the Malcolm and Hoshi.
