Hey now...hands are somewhat tied at the moment. But yes, I too would love to get this resolved ASAP.

Just finished part 2. Brilliant. So grateful for this release and everyone who worked so hard to make it a reality. I’ll posit one minor disagreement with Mike: he stated that he felt London was too magical and that the transition to Neverland should have been minors stark and dramatic like in The Wizard of Oz. That’s an interesting perspective and one I can understand but I’m glad it ended up like it did. To me (who like John Takis) was eleven when I saw Hook, I always considered London to be somewhat magical in the film. It was the “bridge” to Neverland and to Peter’s past life. It’s where he was adopted. It’s where the story originated and where the book was written. I believe Peter had subconsciously avoided returning to London for many years. His return to London is like the key that begins to unlock the door between the worlds. London is the gateway and therefore slightly magical in its own right. I totally see Mike’s perspective, but for me, the scene as-is is perfect. Again, I couldn’t be more thankful for this release. Just amazing.

The Most Williams like Score by Another Composer?
ZackR replied to GerateWohl's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Don Davis' Jurassic Park 3 is a favorite of mine. -
I cannot wait for this. Easily the most excited I've been about any release in YEARS. Order is Awaiting Shipment and the suspense is killing me. Normally, I'd have had this as a Christmas gift but zero chance I'm waiting that long. Plus, Hook has always been a wintry/Christmassy score to me anyways. So excited for this and grateful you got to be part of it @Jay!

I've listened to it once and though I couldn't give it my full attention, I did try to dedicate a few minutes. The sound quality is definitely an improvement to my ears but it isn't dramatic. The last release was excellent as well and if the new LLL didn't exist, you'd never hear a complaint from me on the previous one. It's a bit "clearer" if that makes sense. Having the correct takes and bonus tracks is welcome as well. For those like me who love the score, this is an absolute no-brainer. Buy it immediately. For those who have never heard of it, it's one of the most fun and quirky Goldsmith works there is. I am certainly biased because the film is an all-time personal favorite, but honestly, I'd recommend this to anyone. It's just a lot of fun and never fails to make me smile. If you've already got the previous expanded edition and have to choose between The 'Burbs and other titles in the Black Friday bunch, I'd say go for the others as this is the least changed since its last release. But I love it.

Wow. I'll be getting all 5. Holy crap. The 'Burbs is out of left field. I never imagined we'd get MORE music from one of my all-time favorite films and scores. And Amistad? YES PLEASE!!
-
Excited for more Horner!! And super excited for the Black Friday announcements. Fingers crossed for some more Williams, and fingers doubly-crossed for a proper MM-produced Hook. That's a score I actually listen to a lot around Christmas so the timing would be perfect for me plus it's top tier Williams in my book. Regardless, I can't wait to find out what's coming!

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial - 40th Anniversary Edition from La-La Land Records

Williams talks about Spielberg cutting Bike Chase to the music in this video. Skip to around 3:27 for the segment but then specifically 5:10 for Williams commenting on cutting the projector for Bike Chase. -
Jurassic Park 2-CD (La-La Land) - 5th Of July 2022

I completely agree. If this were any other score assembled this way, I’d likely be exactly the same. In this instance though, the OST is burned into my mind from nonstop play as a kid. I’m certainly not arguing the OST is the superior arrangement (though I do love good OSTs), but rather that this specific OST (warts and all) is very personally special to me. -

I've got the 2016 box but couldn't be more thrilled for this release and mine is Awaiting Shipment! I know people have issues with the OST due to the repeated music, which was certainly an odd choice. For me personally though, there are very few score presentations I hold more dearly than the Jurassic Park OST. I saw the film on opening weekend at the mall theater and immediately walked down to the music store and bought the soundtrack and WORE IT OUT. I still have it to this day. We all have these pivotal scores that helped ignite or fuel our love of film music. For me, Jurassic Park and it's original soundtrack album represent one of those moments for me.
