  1. I am sorry. But I like some Powells music but most sounds like how to train your dragon. Cant stand the percussion driven tracks (lazy) and use of high almost folk flute flourishes and guitar (or what it is) in Solo. He can do beautiful music - Landos closet is amazing love theme, absolutely stunning but then he always return to his HTTYD style 😑
  2. I must say I am quite pleased with the music but not super excited overall. there are some really nice tracks and moments - way better than most of JWs recent music, but he still seems to be holding back a bit. what I don’t like most is: 1) no raiders march, not even much of it in the score 2) only one new theme (at least officially) Helenas theme is beautiful but it is not enough for me. I was also listening to KotCS today - and wow, Irinas theme, Call of the Krystal… I am sorry but it was way better Score than Dial of Destiny in every aspect, way more “classic” Williams. Dial is pretty but it is too reserved and lacks the balls and new thematic material.
  3. The theme is actually quite nice, it has great energy and flow. Not JWs best but i like to listen to it. With Powell, well, its mixed bag some of his tunes are absolutely amazing some are ruined by the overuse of drums and percussions which I always find a lame way to make a rythm for orchestral piece instead of using interesting orchestration / ostinatos. I am not afraid to say that "Lando's Closet" is one of the best love themes made for a movie in past 20 years. It is absolutely gorgeous. Mine mission is great too. What I really dont like is the second part of "Flying with Chewie" which is everything wrong with Powells music, sounds naive, for kids and annoying.
  4. I finally had chance to listen to the better quality version and well.... I am not impressed. This is on a level of Galaxy's Edge which I find to be one of the weakest SW music cues. I was awaiting a theme that will be close to Force theme, strong melody, melancholic, dramatic, with some nice gradation. I do not fid it here. Not that Adventures of Han was so great but it still was quite exciting action piece with some memorable parts, here even after 5 listens, I am not getting the "vibe" or something memorable from it and this is something I am not used to with JW themes. I am bit sad. Hymn to the Oscars was a proof that he still can do this exciting 80/90s kind of stuff but this theme is for me not the case. BTW, Is it me or the orchestration is especially weak here - I think it could be done way better.
  5. My grandfather 93 died yesterday, he was in great shape, living alone, doing things around the house. It was totally sudden. So, definitely, enjoy JW while you can everyone, any concert can be the last now. It really saddens me that I didnt know about this concert sooner to get tickets like last time, I have it 2,5 hours to Wien, sucks. I pray for the Milano concert to happen.
  6. Yep it is Sunday, I am there in the 1st row, yay, I am immortal now :))
  7. The Star Wars main title is definitely from Sunday - I can see myself there. So both days footage. Cool! Anyway, we were extremely, I mean EXTREMELY lucky that this concert happened, Corona was already an Issue in China back then and if it break out sooner, this would be cancelled again. Oof.
  8. Which is really stupid - why the hell are they doing this - what is the point? The tickets to the front rows are always cheaper than the 3rd and further (or even far away balconies) And it really looks bad when in the middle of the front row there is 10 empty seats like it was here. I asked the director about it and she was super nice and said it is not problem at all to sit there, as it will look much better on video than if there are empty seats...
  9. Amen to that. Even the most mediocre music usually does work for the film. I did not remember any of the music the second I left the cinema - what I was remembering a lot were the SONGS - thats how "good" the score was. Oscars are a joke lately. And yes, the fact the composer is a woman played a role for sure. This is not what should be the point of interest - as every music in every A movie does this, as this is a basic requirement. If the music support the narrative BUT also stands out as a good music - being memorable, having emotional impact - than the score is good.
  10. There is no need for swift release, and I hope they wont hurry - more time = more attention.
  11. I was the one who sat there after the pause - it was looking really sad to have such an empty place in front of JW himself...
  12. YES there was, i had my ticked reserved in basket 2 hours before general sale started and then I just have to cit pay - but this took like 15 minutes to load and site then crashed... Payment went through but they had no record of the purchase at their website.... it was the most stressful experience ever.
  13. If they would use footage from 2 different days for one musical piece that would be really weird. Of course that for the whole concert they will use footage from both days.
