What is the last video game you played?

KM, listen beyond its 40 second Zimmeresque intro.

yeah, but it still sounds a bit generic to me.

right now my favorite current videogame score is Lightning Returns , disk 4 is amazing

I also found the remastered tracks of Final Fantasy X

Now this is very beautiful

Great Scott! I think Bungie will bounce back.

But will Marty? Oh I think he will.

guest2 - sniggering at Savas' newfound ability to spot "generic" in the sea of generic shit he has readily swam in all his adult life.

I listened. Twee. I thought it was 'twee' defined. Much of it reminded me of 90s Australian soap underscore. Did you ever see A Country Practice?

For me, an orchestra simply playing its instruments in obvious, long established ways does not automatically constitute worthwhile music. It just sounds like banal playing in unison, to me. Lift music. Just my opinion, of course; I don't mean to undermine your enjoyment of that sort of thing in the slightest.

Well scores have been redone in less time lol.

For films, certainly. I'm not entirely sure about games; their development cycles are obviously much longer. 5 months away from launch means they're most likely in the polishing stage of things.

It hasn't been discussed here, but Sony and Naughty Dog are bringing The Last Of Us to PS4. Native 1080p resolution and 60fps, along with a slew of other touch-ups. I know #2 was bummed about the 30fps on PS3, so this might be something worth rebuying for.

I know I'll get it day one. The online multiplayer for this is superb, so I look forward to jumping back in with more active servers. They also announced more DLC, a new multiplayer map pack with new weapons and perks, as well as a new single-player difficulty mode.

Point of views are very different concerning this one, but it's always a pleasure to discuss about !

Have you ever played the firsts Tomb Raider ?

The last was indeed "casual". And the plot is... :s

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Too easy and too action packed. They threw out much of what made the first three so good.

While I got you in here, Lee, will you be getting the remastered version of The Last Of Us or no?

The list of upcoming RPG's is growing on the Xbox360/PS3 platforms...like a years worth to play. A lot of franchises (Risen,Tales of..,Sacred 3) aren't even going next gen for the next titles

I may not get a PS4 for a while .then when I do all the games I want for that will be "old" and cheap to buy

This game will have a score by Nobuo Uematsu

Apart from the crappy hardware of the xboxone, here's the other reasons I'm ditching Microsoft:

1)The xbox live Dashboard is a convoluted mess. Even buying game downloads is a complicated affair and they change how you do it with almost every update

2) When I tried to redeem a Microsoft Points card the first time, it failed and it took me an evening to figure out I had set the wrong country of origin in the initial console set up (default is US and I'm Canada. Microsoft will refuse to sell you anything if the county indicated on the console does not match). I had to create a new account because account country is NOT CHANGEABLE and almost made the same mistake twice because the Country option is an easy to miss menu you have to manually find . I lost all my achievement points too

3) I cannot find an easy way to know my account balance if I want to buy something. It's hidden in a sub-menu somewhere, or appears only on the very last confirmation page when your about to buy something

4) It asked me for a security update that required me to create a new email account different from the one I use normally. It also made it very hard to do the said update with a single grounded internet connection .To top it off , there's apparently a glitch and it keeps asking me for the security update AGAIN and AGAIN and I have to back out of it every time I log into x-box live

5)The place where to enter redeem codes (cards, day one DLC's) changes menus all the time and is counter intuitive .It should ask you if you have one when you install the game, not in some sub-section of the console settings

6) Whenever I log in off-line , I have to back out of a menu that tells me it can't find an internet connection . I don't have this shit with the PS3

PS3 and PS4 are like this though. It makes sense. You wouldn't want it to keep asking you if you have any codes every time you boot up the game, would you?

Shite graphics card aside, I won't buy an Xbox One until it's jettisoned bundled Kinect, comes in at under £300 and provides me with an incredible Bungie style Halo 5 multiplayer suite. Which is all very unlikely.

Definitely, but not immediately. I'm not prepared to double dip a premium price even for one of the greatest games in years.

Been having memory troubles recently, Wojo?

Sony really took the lead against Microsoft, much more than I was expecting. PS4 outsold Xbox One in March, even with the release of their big exclusive Titanfall. Sony has sold 7 million units to date, Microsoft has shipped 5 million.

He changed the automatic footer Taptatalk puts on all his posts. He's not typing that out each time.

Ok, I grinded and did the Dark Aeons and Penance boss in Final Fantasy X..so now I'm clear for X-2

That last one was a 45 minute turned based battle

"sprite based" doesn't cut it these days , even if it was "the best game of all time" 20 years ago

Even with Final Fantasy X remaster, the antiquated elements took me out of the game at times (random encounters, non controllable camera...)

I think these games worked back in the days because you had no choice but to fill in the graphical limitations with your imagination, but it's hard to go back to that way of experiencing games. Maybe it's just me

When I played Doom for the first time almost twenty years ago, I didn't use my imagination to create more realistic environments or weather effects or people in the UAC labs or that my bullets were pushing the fallen demons around or that an imp was somehow more graphically complex, which would somehow make it scarier. No, it was scary enough on its own, and if I play it again now, the smart level design, fast game play, familiar enemies and weapons, and delightful infighting more than make up for how crude the graphics are with respect to more modern yet inferior games.

Lol, games have never been better than they are right now. For nearly twenty years we've been in the golden age and it's showing no signs of drying up yet. Owning two platforms, I'm utterly spoiled for choice to the point of being swamped and overwhelmed by gaming greatness. It used to be quite possible to play all of the best releases, but I've just had to give up on that challenge. It's impossible to keep up with them all, it's constant.

Doom is a classic, but it's obsolete. Its corridor maze design is as obsolete as its simplistic combat mechanics. The recent BFG edition doesn't do much to change that, with its prettier graphics. The reality is Doom has been outplayed by countless better shooters, some of which were only produced in the last five years.

I think gaming is always getting better and not the other way around .Part of the fun of gaming is the evolution of it, why the hell would I want to go to a previous era

There comes a time when a generation of console becomes stale, as you start noticing the limits the developpers have to work with (like skyrim having identical dungeons or re-used environments, palette swaps for monsters, textures that could be better..). Dark Souls 2 is a great game, but due to so-so graphics you can imagine it could have been a lot better

I can't wait to be blown away by the PS4 when I eventually get it

Well, the hassle of PC gaming is not worth the slight graphical edge to me, because it becomes more of a frustration not to be able to turn everything to max (unless you bought the best gear) . Also playing on a HDTV instead of a monitor makes up for it

the thing I like is that console games are OPTIMIZED to look the best they can. No fucking around with the various shadow options and draw distance in menus

You'll be more than happy with your console purchase by the time you move over. There'll be much more choice by then, because at the moment there's not much out for the PS4 system. I only use mine for playing online shooters so far.

And yes, its graphics are rather nice ;)

I have listed for PS4:

Witcher 3

Dragon Age 3

Assassin's Creed Black Flag

Final Fantasy 14

Kingdom Hearts 3

Lord of the Fallen

Cosmic Star Heroine

Only Assassin's Creed is out

This.

Btw you shouldn't miss out on Black Flag once you do upgrade. It's epic.

Well, except the tend of tacked on multiplayer features , tablet gaming and dumbing down games for "casuals", but they still make enough games for core gamers...

As long as my Single Player RPG genre remains popular I'll be happy

I'm wary about The Order 1886. Press previews and others that have talked about the game says it needs a lot of work. I'll be getting it, of course, but with that not looking up to par and Uncharted 4 seemingly in limbo, my most anticipated games beyond next month's Watch Dogs are Destiny and The Division.

Why? Why would you award a purchase so blindly and with the reservations you have? Stupidity?

Doom was an example I used that Steef may have heard of, to illustrate imagination. If you believe I am so backward as to believe Doom is superior to every modern shooter, well, you'd have to ask me why I just bought a nice video card for my i7 rig, or you can't infer metaphors. I have played many shooters that are superior to Doom, but I've also played some modern stinkers that were bad even with modern engines and graphics and what modern levels should look like. Maybe it's because I grew up with the game in my formative years, the way some people look back fondly on Zelda, Mario, or their first and last blowjob twenty years ago. I'm biased because the Brutal Doom mod breathes new life into such an ancient game, which many tens of thousands of people still actively play, but you won't hear about them in the major news outlets because they're not giving Call of Battlefield any money.

I think the last game I pre-ordered was that obscure Bethesda Star Trek Legacy, which was terrible. With all the sales Steam offers, it's too risky to pre-order games, especially when so many are buggy early in. I won't pay for post release quality control.
