Anyone here familiar with the Black List?

Because I have a fun little surprise if you do.

Disagree with that last part (though My Own Private Idaho is his best), but apparently Sea of Trees was just roundly booed at Cannes and The Guardian gives it 1/5 stars.....

Then again, maybe that means it's good! :P

Hmm, apparently it's extremely sentimental and a dishonest tearjerker ... Van Sant needs money?

His latest, "The Sea Of Trees," seems at times like an attempt to reconcile these two directorial personas. It features an A-list star on a hot streak, a couple of highly acclaimed co-stars, and serious, tear-jerking material, but also looked to be a return to Van Sant's more lyrical fare. The film is indeed a combination of the two sides, but unfortunately it mixes the thrills of "Gerry" with the subtlety of "Finding Forrester" and the originality of the "Psycho" redo.

From the cloying, ever-present score to the complete lack of narrative momentum, it all adds up to a film that's easily Van Sant's worst, and is a sad black mark on McConaughey's mostly excellent recent run. - The Playlist

Everything gets booed at Cannes.

Didn't Indy 4 get a standing ovation?

Yeah, the big "red carpet" premieres always get those crazy standing ovations that go on and on for 5-10 minutes. The critics' screenings are where movies get booed...I think there's always at least one film that gets it every year. It's kind of a hilariously varied list...classics like L'Avventura and Taxi Driver to Tarantino, Malick, and Lynch to movies nobody remembers like The Search, Taking Woodstock, and The Brown Bunny.

Now if Jason and Stefan conspire and assassinate Jw then that would be interesting.

That part of the film will be temp tracked with bucket of blood by Donaggio.

It will be like Black Sunday. Jason will be like Bruce Dern and Stefan the exotic Marta Keller, without the sexiness but with a foreign accent.

Looks great.

If only somebody better than Ramin Djawadi was scoring this...

Indeed. There's a whole team of guys that have been doing the scores for every World of Warcraft iteration to date. And they're awesome scores too, huge sounding in terms of orchestral and choral power.

Djawadi's sound is anything but that. :shakehead:

Yes! Paul Verhoeven was just on TV and said his Jesus project (a more realistic depiction of the man and the story) is still happening. The screenwriter of Elle (the French movie with Isabelle Huppert that Paul is working on today) is writing the script as we speak.

Jesus Begins?

No, I think it's called Passion: Origins.
