STAR WARS takes on the X Factor winner in a battle for the Christmas No.1 single as fans join huge Facebook campaign to defeat Simon Cowell's chart domination.

A new Facebook camapign - https://www.facebook.com/starwarsxmas/ is rapidly gathering pace to defeat the Evil Empire and install a new regime at the top of the Xmas charts. So far almost 430,000 fans have joined up in the struggle to get John Williams' iconic Star Wars theme tune to No.1 on Christmas Day. It may seem rather fanciful, but the threat is very real.

If every single person who has signed up so far bought a copy of the new recording of the Star Wars theme, the X Factor winner wouldn't stand a chance. "Simon Cowell is going to be a worried man," a music industry insider revealed. "The campaign is already gathering pace and with greater publicity the anti-X Factor brigade are going to back it even more."

The mysterious Facebook user starwarsxmas started the brave struggle under the clever slogan 'The Chart Awakens.' All the posts and pictures are packed with inside jokes for Star Wars fans. "Join us in the Rebel Alliance his Christmas to make the new official recording of the Star Wars theme tune the UK Christmas No.1 single " they write. "The Empire of the Dark Side headed by Darth Cowell will be expecting us, so it is your duty to join us and share and retweet this to others across the far-flung galaxy."
