  1. You'll know when I'm complaining and whining, this doesn't qualify as that. And I do normally watch the credits out of interest mostly for where the film was shot. The music is a bonus for me, well, some of the time, guess it depends on the score/composer.
  2. Yes, YES, YES!!! No matter how bad the film is, I always watch the end titles, usually for the music. "John Carter" had great end title music. Anyway, some end titles can introduce some completely original music, so, often, they ARE worth sitting through. I left during the John Carter credits, which I normally don't do, because the music was exhausting. The recording quality of that entire score is amateur at best, which is par for the course on Giacchino scores. Cars 2 may be one of the worst offenders of the last several decades. Credits are too long these days, don't need to make it worse with listing the musicians.
  3. Looking forward to Argo. I think the sessions are taking place this week, could be great...I hear Affleck did a heck of a job directing it.
  4. Yeah, looks a bit boring to me as well. Hope Doyle swings for the fences on this one. Looking for the next great score for an animated feature... Wall-E still resonates with me...we'll see what Henry Jackman comes up with for Wreck It Ralph.
  5. Hans Zimmer's themes are one of the strongest tools in his arsenal. I can't stand to listen to his music outside of the film, but he certainly finds a way to give the film what it needs, just about every time.
  6. ???? Ay yay yay. Based on who's rating system? Even from just a harmonic standpoint, the guy is brilliant. Melodically there are few that are at his level in film music history and his unique sound separates him from so many others. My favorite quality of his music, by far, is how quickly and beautifully it manages to depict the interior psyche of the character. Williams is much more overt for me in this way, save Schindler's List, Stepmom, Sleepers and a few others.
  7. Finally heard the score album, was pretty underwhelmed. I'm a Silvestri fan for sure, but it seemed like either the temp screwed with his swinging for the fences or the film is edited poorly (haven't seen the film). Or maybe he was playing it a bit safe, which so many trained bad ass composers are doing these days, for fear of coming off as 'traditional."
  8. The little music I have heard of Silvestri's I really like. Haven't seen it in the film yet, which matters a great deal for me, but very happy that Joss Whedon didn't pass on him (which I think he almost did?). Would have been cool if Marvel gave Broughton a shot at this one as a "sorry things didn't work out on Captain America, so here's another one." A bummer Broughton lost out just because Giacchino decided to walk from doing the theme.
  9. I'm sure Jerry would have loved to have a $200 million movie, even if it did tank. Giacchino will be fine I suspect.
  10. As much as I love Williams' score, I don't think many people will remember the music in 20 years. I think the haunting echoplex trumpets from Patton will still be remembered in 20 years...maybe.
  11. I hear Don is digging his occasional conducting gig with The Matrix Live. Although, I don't think there are many concerts in the pipeline this year...
