Favorite expanded Williams cue (which was not on the OST)

I think we should do a thread with the best cue ever from an expanded/complete release that wasn't included in the original ost. (or that was severely edited in the ost)

(I would probably pick E.T. End Credits)

SURE THING BUDDY.

Off the top of my head, I would have to say I'd probably go with the explosion of the Federation Droid Ship at the end of The Phantom Menace (the one that interpolates the Force theme and Duel of the Fates). Glad that one wasn't destroyed on the UE.

Traditionally I'm pretty Thor-ish. I prefer and usually listen to the OSTs when I'm actively listening, and I don't care if something is incomplete, or non-chronological - but I'm never going to turn my nose up at new music. Occasionally there's a cue that I remember from a movie that I rue not having - the above is one.

Hehe. Ok, thanks.

So, I'm saying again:

E.T. End Credis

(i thought it was hard at first to pick my favourite expanded (meaning coming from an expansion) cue, but then I thought i will pick my favourite score and see in there what great cue was missing fromt he ost).

So, the End Credits has a magnificent piano introduction with the over the moon theme, and also I like the ending with the quick trumpets upwards scales.

Fortunately we weren't left off with the 1982 ost album!

And if i may say so, do you think that Williams in those years (70s-80s) cut more from the osts and kept more concert versions, but as the years passed he put more of his original film cues in the soundtracks? I think so..

@Jay

If you had to pick one??

I think so, and that likely had to do more with medium constraints (the amount of music that would fit on an LP -- or a double LP if we were lucky).

Exit Music - Hook

Marv Enters the Basement/A Hot Hand/A Sore Head - Home Alone

Padme Falls - Attack of the Clones

Palpatine's Seduction - Revenge of the Sith

I Am the Senate - Revenge of the Sith

extended version of It Can't Be - Revenge of the Sith

The Boys Continue - Revenge of the Sith

There's probably plenty of stuff from the Star Wars OT that should be on my list, but the only versions of those scores I have are the complete releases.

Several that have been mentioned. Also The Boat Scene and On the Tank. Both are among my favourites from that score, and at least the former is thematically relevant.

Come to think of it, Government Ages. One of my favourite statements of the Ark theme, and also the proper exposition of it.

Wait, this is about unreleased music that made it to an expanded c.d., not cues on bootlegs or still completely unreleased

On top of my head:

Anakin is Free-TPM

History Lesson-JP

Dark Side Beckons (ROtJ Box Set)

Rebel Alliance Assembly (RotJ SE)

Losing a Hand (TESB)

Bringing them Back (EtoS)

Portuguese Coast (Last Crusade)

Washington Men (Raiders)

Short Round Helps (ToD)

First Seance:Family Plot

Helicopter Sequence :Superman

notice no cues from A.I. HPSS, AotC and RotS are valid in this thread

Well I guess A.I. is ok because it's a real promo

So David and the Supermecha if you count it

Mystery Woman from family plot

Doesn't count. Family Plot never had an OST before Varese.

The original E.T. album is perfect, but so is the complete score. I supposed I'd go with Searching for E.T., the version on the 20th with the film version intro, even though I generally don't like the sound of the 20th CD. That cue is one of Williams' very best from the Over the Moon chase scene and discovery of E.T., to the return of that religioso music (from Three Million Light Years From Home) when E.T. is on the floor and, of course, the invasion of the house, which is some of the most intensely thrilling stuff Williams has ever done.

It's usually that first cue you play when an expanded release comes out..

Not a bad shout there from KM. If I can pick two they would be Father and Son from Jaws and the full Desert Chase from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

One of many from POA:

I need this to breathe! No seriously, I play that bit on my eighth dvd copy of the film on repeat every five minutes.

Seriously how does something that short and that brilliant get left of an OST? It's not like it's from a throwaway scene either!

He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings.
