Fox's Marvel Universe (X-Men, Legion, Deadpool, Fantastic Four, etc)

Does anyone know if Fox is planning on connecting their X-Men movies with their Fantastic Four movies, and other upcoming films?

As of a few days ago, they had these films planned:

2015

Aug 7 Fantastic Four

2016

Feb 12 Deadpool

May 27 X-Men Apocalypse

2017

March 3 Wolverine 3

July 14 Fantastic Four 2

2018

July 13 X-Men 8

Unscheduled

X-Force

Gambit

Well yesterday Fox announced some new plans, namely:

  • Gambit is coming October 7, 2016, starring Channing Tatum (Gambit was previously played by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine)
  • Fantastic Four 2 was moved up a few months to June 2 2017

It's interesting that in the "main" Marvel universe, Disney has been sure to keep all the characters played by the same actors through. Meanwhile at Fox, they've recast Gambit, Jubilee, and Kitty Pryde, among other smaller roles, and have messed with timelines and rebooting a bunch of things. It doesn't seem like Disney Marvel will be doing that any time soon, though their universe is a lot younger than Fox's which started in 2000, eight years before Iron Man kicked off Marvel's own verse!

Right. The X-Men movies could be looked at as a template for the MCU franchise, about what not to do.

"If a series of movies with varying degrees of continuity but big name stars and production values could be this popular, imagine what we could do with a plan! Why, we could even take the obscure and make it chic!"

The first 3 X-Men films correspond rather well, but after that it all becomes a bit of a mess. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was supposed to start of a series of Origins films, but it apparently didnt make enough money, so First Class was thought of as a reboot, which then turned out not to be a reboot when DAFP went into production etc etc.

You gotta hand it to Marvel, so far they have done a good job keeping the continuity up to scratch. Though at some point they will need to start recasting characters if they want to keep them.

That's what I feel. The Gambit in the Wolverine movie was stupid. And while I've like Channing Tatum in other roles, he doesn't seem right for this.

The 90's cartoon Gambit would be a good model to follow

And Gotham!

That's what people want!

How many re-imaginings of the Batman franchise do they think the public wants to see?

I think an X-Men series could be wonderful! It's been so long since I liked 24 though that I'm a little skeptical about this one

First teaser for Fantastic Four

I forgot how much I like Kate Mara

I think they wanted the audience to think it was Patrick Stewart talking at the beginning

New logo is awful

Meh.

Waste of Kate Mara's talents.

That actually looks pretty decent.

What? Which part?

I like the cinematography and some of the shot compositions.

Some of it looks like its going after the Prometheus look.

Surely he must be loaded enough.

Isn't he at that point of his career where he would rather work on what he wants? Especially over another stupid comic book movie.
