Be interesting to see how some of these do ... Guardians Of The Galaxy was a more obscure Marvel property and was a big hit, but can Ant-Man do the same? The Fantastic Four reboot is apparently 'darker' (hmm, do people want that in the summer?) and has had an allegedly troubled journey to the screen. And Ted 2 and Vacation are non-family comedies ... mind you, that is probably their USP in amongst all the U/PG/12A/PG-13 rated stuff.

Wow, Jurassi world seems to have passed the avengers 2 already!

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4069&p=.htm

Did anyone expect that?

I didnt, and i'm a huge JP fan...

I think i'll cast my vote in the poll now ;)

People are responding to it. It's like with the first Avengers movie, the numbers kept getting bigger than anticipated. Remember, that was also initially predicted to open to $120M+ before it exploded way past that.

While some people are undeniably disappointed with JW (which is normal), the majority aren't. I know a few people who went back for repeat showings. It should be interesting to see what its long-term prospects are. It opened slightly higher than Avengers (which gave it that lead), but its numbers are almost identical otherwise.

I didn't have a lot of expectations for it, and there are certainly faults, but it was fun. Worth the price of a ticket and it was enjoyable. Sometimes that's all you need.

So the audience has no part or no blame?

They sheepisly line up in droves to watch Jurassic World like lemmings because thats what Universal has imprinted on them?

Please!

I went to see that film because it has positive word to mouth.

It's equally facetious to claim that audiences demand new Catwoman movies. It's no clear-cut case but your relativistic nonsense is clearly going nowhere.

Jurassic World has performed something amazing, like Avengers it made over 100 million 2 weeks in a row, but it will make over 400 million in 11 days, and will make 1 billion worldwide in 11 days.

It's a good movie, but it is one that could be picked apart with ease. But it's too fun to do so.

I'd no idea Furious 7 made so much money. :eek2:

Still can't believe Jurassic World's financial success. I would have predicted $500 million at an absolute maximum.

There is a huge gap between worldwide places 3 and 4.

I expect Mission Impossible Rogue Nation to rocket over the billion mark worldwide.

I am shocked at how many boxoffice records Avatar, Ti-Tanic, and E.T. have. I seriously doubt some of those will be broken in the current boxoffice climate.

E.T. 16 weeks at #1.

Ti-Tanic 15 weeks at #1

E.T. 44 Weeks in the top 10.

AVATAR top grossing film in its 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th weekends. It denied JW that honor for weekend 3.

Ti-Tanic top grossing film in its 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th weekends

Titanics 15 straight weeks was legendary. So many films came out but Titanic usually was easily #1 sometimes double what the newcomers made. Towards the end of its run at the top there'd be close calls when it wasn't known on Sunday projections if it would hold or not and then it always did come Monday, sometimes by small margins. Until finally Lost In Space dethroned it.

E.T. held on in the face of many good films in 1982. I can't see many films holding holding the top spot much more than 3 weeks these days.

Jurassic World was #1 again, fourth weekend in a row

http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/456551-jurassic-world-celebrates-the-fourth-with-its-fourth-weekend-at-1

T5 was also beaten by Inside Out! I wonder if they'll still release T6 in 2017 as planned...
