  1. I was 15 when I discovered Tim Burton's Batman movie in theaters. I had already researched everything about the Joker portrayed by Jack Nicholson, whom I also discovered through this film. Besides the noir and gothic aspect, what struck me the most was the music. After watching the film, I rushed to the record store to get Danny Elfman's LP (yes, a vinyl record), which was also my first encounter with Elfman. Technology was changing rapidly then, making it both my first and last vinyl purchase. Subsequent soundtracks, all by John Williams, entered my home on CD. But what a beautiful memory of that summer at 15! It's a film and a soundtrack I still love immensely. I had this poster in my room and this flag banner : I even had Batman suspenders!
  2. Yes, of course it's great when we listen to the "New" digital edits from the expansion, not the clunky ones from the old OST.
  3. We can also found the disco track on this 2015 release. Unfortunately, once you've experienced the Expansion... you rarely (well, that's my case) want to go back to the OST where some analog edits are not very well executed. But, hey... that was the OST, it's 'historic'! NOTE: Moreover, if Stéphane Lerouge wants to include excerpts from Close Encounters of the Third Kind in a potential volume 2 of his John Williams 'Écoutez le cinéma' box set (because the suite presented on volume 1 is far from sufficient), it is absolutely necessary that he select excerpts from the expansion and not from the OST. Mercy.
  4. Stopped after 10 minutes 11 seconds. What an horror. #Wonka
  5. Is this an additional thread where I can bore you with the greatest tragedy of my recent life as a collector of film music CDs? Here's a clue... Mr. Chippy...
  6. Thanks @Jay, we all forgot about that reboot starring... what's his name... the guy from the Twilight movies!
  7. The comprehensive discography is on jwfan.com now, so you can update it yourself if you want! Or ask @Junion, thanks!
  8. Jerry Goldsmith's music entered my life gradually. The first score of his that I purchased was... (drum rolls) Honestly, Goldsmith wasn't a composer who had been a part of my life during my teenage and young adult years, unlike John Williams (from the first Star Wars) and Danny Elfman (from the first Batman). This was partly because I hadn't seen many of the movies he scored. It was an acquired taste, discovering Goldsmith. My initial exposure to his work came through recordings of the John Williams/Boston Pops (Out of this World), and those of Erich Kunzel (Star Tracks). First, it began with an expansion I think... Then, over the last four years, starting in 2020, my physical collection of Goldsmith's CDs grew to include 70 items. Not bad. Maybe it was the expanded edition of "Sleeping with the Enemy"... or was it the "used" OST of "Gremlins 2"? Those are very odd choices for the first two CDs of Jerry Goldsmith, but I believe it was these CDs. PS: I remember being impressed by some playlists of @Erik Woods dedicated to Goldsmith back in 2013, I think, on his CSR podcast website. So I'll say it's HIS fault!!!
  9. A well-deserved tribute to Nolan, who has been making his mark for quite some time now. He has finally made a "serious" film, worked with excellent actors and actresses, and it has been rewarded. Congratulations.
  10. I think Clooney removed that role from his CV!
  11. Are there any JWfan members on the red carpet tonight?
  12. There are many @Jay's Google Docs that could serve to create new breakdowns on this thread...
  13. Oh wow this thread! Somehow... you read my mind.
  14. Preparing some music for St. Patrick's day.
