  1. Nice game! 1. The Walking Dead 2. King Kong 7. seems to me Sleepy Hollow
  2. Wow! Really great work! Good use of the orchretra and very filmic sound. I only see (or listen) one bad thing, this piece works perfectly with an image, but it will difficult work as a concert piece because it doesn't has a tradicional structure. But as I said, as a film piece, it's fantastic! Hope to find this kind of sound in future films!
  3. Roque Baños appears a lot in "Oxford Murders". He is the orchestra conductor.
  4. A few days ago I asist to one concert. The Hungarian Philarmonic Orchestra played Debussy's Raphsodie for Piano and there were 2 harps playing (each one with his different part). It's very common to see 2 harps (or 3 or 4) in the orchestral pieces at the end of 19th century or the first parts of 20th. You can listen and look to the score the news examples: Rite of Spring, The Planets, La Mer, The Firebird (here Stravinky uses 4 harps). Generally, look scores from Ravel and Debussy, both like to use multiple harps a lot of times
  5. I agree with Filmmusic! Williams uses 2 sets of timpani (like Stravinky did in the Rite of Spring). The relationship between this 2 pieces [War of the W and Rite...] is notorious. By the way, is also very typicall to use 2 harps in big orchestras (with 2 harps you can play easily chromatic passages, like in "Journey to the Island" in Jurassic Park).
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_VdhYCE4JA&feature=related Timing: 0:47-0:50 You can hear 2 chords with a tritonic relation. You can hear the same relation in this Kachaturian Watlz in the seconds 0:40-0:42
  7. Star Wars (all the saga) is FULL of polytonal passages. Here one example: The first chord (that is a poly-chord) that you can listen is a C major chord in the medium-high pitches in orchestra versus Db major in the other half of the orchestra. During this cue, you can listen too a loooots of poly-chords and bi-tonal examples. For listen the effect, try to play in a piano the examples posted in this thread and try to create you own poly-chords Also, for more examples of bi (or poly) tonality, listen all the Stravinsky's ballets. Really great stuff!
  8. Interesting theory! I listened that Hans Zimmer probably gets the job for the 2nd movie... so, may be Williams is thinking something like "try do something better (with malevolous voice)" XD
  9. I hope it too, man. Williams is a really great music worker, he always makes big complete thematic pieces (Raider's theme, Darth Vaider's theme, Yoda's theme, and a lot of more examples) for use that thematic material in the movie (or in the CD). So, I hope this time the Maestro uses this process in TinTin and then he will make a edition of this themes, I whish
  10. Well, to make a concert arrangement of the first track in the OST CD it's extremly difficult in my opinion. It's colorful and reduced orchestral template and change that is to change the sound of the track and, if you develop the TinTin theme you will obtain a new piece because you will have changed the structure of the piece. I think that the best for make a concert arrangement is to "compose" a suite like Mouse Hunt End Credits: A-B-A (Main theme - various secondary themes - Main theme again with a coda). It means that the TinTin arrangement probably will be sometinh like this: TinTin theme (developed) - Hadock/Unicorn/Thompsons/etc themes linked developing the thematic material if is needed - reprise of TinTin's theme. I would not include Snowy's theme because the 2nd track of the CD is absolutly brilliant and it's a complete theme with his developements. Another solution is to wait for the clasical John Williams Signature Edition Scores (it would be amazing!) with all the complete themes Cheers to everyone!
  11. Wow! ---------------------------- Wow! Really great! I only have missed a little comentary abour Kevin Kaska who has also worked with williams a few times Curious fact: For what I know, Herb Spencer Studied orchestration with Arnold Schoenberg! He has to be a person with a huge musical culture! Congratulations for the blog, there are posts reaaaly good prepared and very interesting!
  12. Hi! In Spider-man 3 Main Tiltes, in Black-suited Spiderman theme section, you can hear a few mistakes in the horns. The biggest mistake is in 1:48 when horns play the high pitched note, one horn is playing another harmonic.
