  1. Hello The music for the JURASSIC PARK teaser trailer was written by David Bergeaud (Earth 2, Prince Valiant).
  2. Yes but he only mentioned II, Williams was in as long as Donner was, and we know Salskin (the producer) said Williams had said to him ' I cant work with this man' when he met the new Director.thank you for your help in precising details of the story ! Additional (old) news about the superman series, Mr Williams wrote new material for SUPERMAN IV, adapted by Alexander Courage. The topic was already discussed. Was? Well I don't know where you getting the info or sources from that claimed that but according IMDB it doesn't say he was linked or did the music for it.Do you think IMDB reports everything ?Mr Williams turned down a great number of films because of various reasons (scheduling conflict, creative differences, studio executives "decisions"...) etc...Scrooged, The Swarm, Out of Africa, Titanic, Powder, Bridges of Madison County, Bicentennial Man, Meteor, Superman II, Quintet, Heaven's Gate, the Deep, Double, Wolf, Inchon....It happens everyday in the film music business.Of course it doesn't report everything. It only reports the information about the films and and listing the cast, the crew and the production and all that. But that wasn't the point really. I thought it was....

  4. Mr Williams was linked to THE BLACK CAULDRON in the mid-eighties
  5. My favorite Jaws theme rendition comes from the legendary Henry Mancini, conducting the LSO and concludes the disaster movie suite from the rca cd "the godfather & other movie themes". A remarkable album.
  6. look for the nominees among the following list, IMHO : gustavo santaolalla brokeback mountain danny elfman charlie and the chocolate factory harry gregson williams chronicles of Narnia james newton howard king kong alex wurman march of the penguins john williams memoirs of a Geisha alexandre desplat syriana John Williams' forthcoming appearance on the Tonight Show may reveal that Memoirs' studio and record label are pretty confident and strongly campaigning for John Williams' score. who knows.... but it's all politics in the end
  7. Joseph Williams' new solo album is in the works and - apparently - will include the song "Hold Me" from the soundtrack to The Fury. Hopefully.... as far as I remember Joseph Williams also worked with his father on SPACE CAMP, RETURN OF THE JEDI, episode 1 & 2 and AI. I think his brother Mark also did some work on THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST and JAWS 2. You can check the info at : http://josephwilliams.totoweb.org/newsanglais.htm "I have worked with my father. When he has something that I can do, he does hire me. He'll never give me a job just for the sake of giving me a job. I did a few things for Episode I and II for Star Wars. I did a few things for A.I. Artificial Intelligence. The first thing I ever did was when I was 15 years old. I wrote some songs for the movie "The Fury."" 8. FREDERIC TALGORN, of course or Joel McNeely, Both are wonderful composers!
  9. Okay, You have to understand one thing : getting an Oscar is not just a question of artistic performance or creativity... It's all about politics. This years four nominees were A-list composers - top guys - working in hollywood, and LA based composers. The competition is extremely tough in town ; consequently there was not a chance for James Newton Howard, John Debney, Thomas Newman, and John Williams to get the Oscar. They will never give the award to them unless it's a huge hit. The Academy votes for the "outsider" so to speak. The foreign composer or the NYC composer. Gabriel Yared, Nicola Piovani, Anne Dudley, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Stephen Warbeck, Luis Enrique Bacalov, Herbie Hancock, John Corigliano and Alan Menken are all extremely talented composers - did they get bigger assignments ? no - with the exception of Gabriel Yared, none of them is now a A-list composer. Smart votes from the Academy Members. Regarding two NYC-based composers : Elliott Goldenthal and Howard Shore, I would say the same, they are not "insiders" in Hollywood, so better vote for them. Howard Shore was already scoring big films before LOTR. In my humble opinion, in 2002 Mr Shore did win not only because he scored LOTR. He did get the award because James Horner, John Williams and Randy Newman are LA based composers. This is an example among many others.
  10. The score to HOW TO STEAL A MILLION is a lot longer than the 27 minutes you refer to ! It is a real treasure, possibly the best comedy score written by Mr Williams. Most of the music on the album varies from the original film score tracks. "main title", "at maxim's" etc.... A complete issue would be great in my humble opinion (varèse club, maybe), and what a superb movie !
  11. Back in the 80s, Mr Williams was approached by Walt Disney Pictures for the Black Cauldron. Why he didn't score it is another story....
  12. Sabrina is one of my favorite John Williams scores from the nineties along with Schindler's List, Angela's Ashes, and Nixon. The film is underrated, acting performances are terrific. Beautiful locations in Paris, Long Island and Martha's Vineyard.
  13. I totally agree. and what about Michael Kamen ? I think they should give an oscar to Ennio Morricone, THE MISSION deserved it.
  14. Frederic Talgorn would be the best choice possible. He is such a terrific composer Second could be David Bergeaud who worked for Spielberg's EARTH 2 tv series and did the terrific trailer music for JURASSIC PARK. In my humble opinion, in case Mr Williams retires, Steven Spielberg will not hire a A-list composer.
