What is the last Television series you watched?

Alex, you're the only one confused here.

Once again, maybe you'll get it this time: Quint posted about Curb:

Started Curb Your Enthusiasm again last night, blitzed through the first 3 episodes (it's just as funny the second time around) and it was a nice surprise when I now realised the third instalment's 'Porno Gil' was in fact a young Bob Odenkirk.

https://youtu.be/plrtX555eoA

The VERY next post in the thread is YOU asking about "the next season":

I wonder what they'll do for the next season.

Since you didn't include a quote in your post about Fargo, anyone reading the board would logically assume you are referring to Curb, since that is the content of the post immediately before yours.

Nobody did anything wrong, you're just not using your brain.

It's equally likely here that Alex realized he fucked up and is feigning ignorance to cover it, or that he is just ignorant and truly doesn't get it.

In all your wisdom, don't you think it's possible that the confusion is caused because I don't see Quintus' posts and not because of "my brain"? The post I was responding to was KK. talking about Fargo. That's the very last post for me before I responded with "I wonder what they'll do for the next season?".

Yes Alex, I already suggested that possibility many posts ago:

Do you have Quint blocked?

OK, well then that explains everything!

Sometime I think Alex is too old to grasp how to properly use the internet.

That's a very insulting post. Perhaps you think the same of KM, Ricard, and myself.

Yes, here you appear to understand what caused the confusion:

But suddenly you forgot about that and suggested something else:

Nope! One day you will stop using IE for everything and use a real browser :)

I didn't know I use IE. I didn't know Chrome was IE.

I haven't used my work computer in two years.

I work for the state. I change positions and moved but they still use IE10. I have used chrome for 2 years on my phone. I don't use the internet at work since. I am the one who investigates those that do.

Me too. They're hiring a new cast with a new story but still set in Fargo I believe.

How far are you in first season Alex?

It wasn't sudden; Quint egged me on with further posts. If you want to temporarily unblock him, you will see them.

Anyways, I apologize for the posts. I considered the entire conversation complete done when I said "well that explains everything", but Quint egging me on caused it to continue.

I used to have Quint blocked before I became a mod, so I know what its like to get confused in a thread when there are missing posts. I would occasionally have to unblock posts by people to understand the flow of conversation. But I doubt you can do that on mobile.

Are you checking if they're going on porn sites?

All those sites are blocked to begin with. But in the past yes.

I only do the investigative part outside the computer. IT provides me information.

Marcy's been watching Cutthroat Kitchen on netflix. I really like that Alton Brown guy.

We were supposed to see him live last year; I got sick and couldn't make it so Marcy went without me. She had a great time.

Alton Brown is amazing. His show Good Eats is the STTNG of cooking shows.

Grey, I had a love hate relationship with Joe who was often intentionally rude. Graham is hilarious to me.

But most of my best techniques are still grandma related.

Yea it's impressive the knowledge Brown has, and the way he goes able presenting it to the audience is always well done. He's fun to watch.

Marcy used to watch Good Eats a lot when we had cable

On a related note,

There's a quality irony about this, Jason. Because I remember the board and its users very well before you became an administrator. Nobody expected it, because much of the establishment here didn't even know who you were. As per forum etiquette dictates: people simply skip posts from uninteresting or uncharismatic users. You effectively administered your way to the status you have here now, the old guard all know that. You know it too. BB, KK and Pilgrim (your posse), do not.

"Longtime user Jason LeBlanc is appointed new administrator of JWFan" --Ricard

"Who?" --JWFan

So the irony is you used to block my content back in the day; whereas I honest to God didn't even notice any of yours :)

I had no idea who Jason Leblanc was or that we had anyone by that name untill he became mod. With Mark O and John Crichton, If I recall correctly.

The Fall 2x06 In Summation

I watched this months ago now but never got around to writing about it; Since I wrote about the first 10 episodes here, I wanted to write about the 11th.

In short, not a very good finale, was it? I wasn't expecting it to be extra long either, that was kind of annoying. So the parts with Specter in customer and Stella and co trying to figure out how to get him to confess were OK. The part with that other guy going mental on his ex-wive's new place was laughable. Finally we have a show down between Stella and Spector and it was... OK. The problem is that the "holy shit!" moment a few episodes before her him getting her journal sets up a more amazing confrontation than we actually got. In fact that whole thing led to nothing at all.

Then we get the extended ending with Stella and Spector in the woods with all the police. So Rose is found alive... meh. We never really cared about her and it was confusing along the way exactly what Spector did to her and why. He left her food and water in the trunk so why is he surprised she's alive? Then the stupid subplot with the angry guy finally joins the main as he shows up and shoots Spector and Stella's new lover. So stupid. I hope Spector is dead is Season 3 is Stella investigating an all new case. 3 seasons is too much to spend on one case, especially when its not very compelling!

Also, its funny reading through my earlier reviews, turns out I didn't really like the show much at all until 8 episodes in!

The Fall 1x01 Dark Descent

Meh. My fiance Marcy loves all these British murder mystery shows, but I don't really watch any of them with her. This one, however, sold me at Gillian Anderson (who I noticed was more attractive than ever when watching Hannibal). And indeed the opening shot is of her butt as she cleans her apartment in somewhat skimpy clothes, which was nice. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there, as she investigates two murders in Belfast the police do not think are connected but she does, while we simultaneously follow the killer in question (so there's really no mystery) as he stalks and eventually kills his next victim. Ho hum. The show needs more Gillian, less creepy stalker.

The Fall 1x02 Darkness Visible

Meh, more of the same, but at least once again we get a hot scene with Gillian Anderson. Yowza! All the scenes with the killer and the babysitter were really creepy. The assassination was foreshadowed too heavily. Not much else to say.

The Fall 1x03 Insolence & Wine

This is basically two shows running simultaneously. The much weaker one is following the serial killer around as he is a shitty father, a questionable grief counselor, and a creepy creepy stalker of his next victim. This week he assembled manequins in a weird cabin he finds with his daughter, who also hinted to the mom about his hiding space above her bed (does he want to be caught?). I generally am not very intrigued by any of this guys scenes ever.

The other show, following Gillian Anderson around as she takes the lead in case to try to find the killer, is slowly getting better and more interesting. I've never been a fan (not that I've really ever watched any) shows that have a case a week like any L&O / CSI / NCIS / whatever, but I did get into some shows that spend an entire season on one case (The Killing, Twin Peaks, Dexter, Hannibal). I liked the montage of Gillian instructing everyone on the team, her assigning the redhead cop as her right hand man, and her psychological analysis of the killer. I also like the shooting of the cop she left with, and how it keeps bumping into the main killer case, despite not being directly related. At only 5 episodes this season, I'm on board to watch the final 2 no problems.

The Fall 1x04 My Adventurous Song

Watching the bad guy kill his next victim was just uncomfortable. The former partner of Olsen that shot himself was nutso. Interesting leads in the case this week, with a possible ex-girlfriend turning up with a botched strangling story, and the bad guy writing a letter to the father of the last victim, apologizing for her being pregnant. With one episode left this season, is Gillian going to catch the guy?

The Fall 1x05 The Vast Abyss

So Spector has to talk to the police, lie to his wife, and leave town in a hurry. I didn't realize the babysitter was supposed to be THAT young - gross. As for Stella's investigation, well, she doesn't really get anywhere, but gets to talk to Spector... and his last victim is still alive. What a weird show. So their plan was to have a 5 episode show where a detective hunts a serial killer and he gets away with it? Did they just assume they'd get renewed for a second season?

Is the second season better or worse than the mostly boring first?

The Fall 2x01 Walk The Line

For some reason I thought Spector and his entire family left town at the end of last season, but I guess he is just holed up somewhere while his wife stays home and watches after the kids without his help? WTF, and what does she think is his reason for being away - just the affair with the babysitter he lied about? OK.... watching Spector with that dumb girl on the train was ridiculous. "Oh, you seem awfully concerned if you look like the murderer thats in the news! Here, look at my ID that has my address on it to see what I look like with brown hair!" I mean... really? I didn't really care about him being creepy with his daughter's dolls (Why did she say she "left them" if he's holed up in some hiding place?)... and him killing the chick who Stella interviewed was creepy. She didn't hear him talking to her daughter in the house? Sheesh.

As usually the best parts are scenes with Stella, Gillian Anderson was again terrific. Loved her deciding to put the uniform on, her interaction with the police chief, and her little run-in with the wannabe thugs who live in the last victim's neighborhood. This show would be nothing without her. Her investigation isn't going well, running out of money and having no real leads. But then they find the scissors in the river... will that really help much?

The Fall 2x02 One Named Peter

So Rose isn't murdered, just abducted. The scene where Spector and her are at a red light right next to a cop car is ridiculous. She could have cried for help right there and been out of this mess! Bah! It was good that Stella releases its all her fault that Rose got kidnapped, because they published the drawing of how he would have looked 9 years ago. Woops. Spector shows up in the hospital to be the bereavement councilor for Annie... WTF? Why would he do that? So weird. The babysitter crushing on Paul hard is just creepy. She has to release he's the strangler at this point (especially after he strangles her a bit in bed)... so why is she still so interested? And finally the clues all come together for Stellas as they get a print of Spector's off the scissors from the river. This was kind of surprising, I almost expected she wouldn't figure it out until the end of the season, the way the show has been paced so far. Hopefully this is a sign the pace is starting to pick up!

The Fall 2x03 It's Always Darkest

Wow! It took 8 episodes, but finally The Fall actually got damn good! The ending of this episode finally made me really want to see the next one for the first yet!

The episode starts with a dream sequence Stella has, that was quite effective. The team is beginning to close in on Spector, with his wife admitting she didn't know where he was the night of one of the murders and then Stella almost coming face to face with him as he drives by a spot where they have found Rose's phone case. (Speaking Rose, is she dead or alive? Why don't we the viewer know? The show tends to show us everything else happening). Meanhile, Spector is turning the babysitter into a creepy little cronie (boy, she sure is suggestive!). But the highlight was an mentioned the end. You get Stella meeting with Dr Reed and not only making out to get a guy hitting on Reed to go away, but then coming close to actually going to up to her room and banging. She goes in alone though, at least she thinks she is - Spector is in there, having stolen a room key from the kitchen. It isn't clear if he was planning on killing her or not, because when there's a knock and we expect it to be Dr. Reed, it's actually Burns. They have a bit of a misunderstanding, and Paul escapes - but not before photographing Stella's dream journal, writing a note to her, and changing her desktop background. Now she knows that he knows that they know that he's their suspect. And he had insight into her deepest thoughts. Dayum! Thanks for finally getting good, The Fall! 3 episodes to go now, they better hold up!

The Fall 2x04 Strangler

It's getting to be pretty weird that Spector just walks around freely despite the police knowing he's a serial killer. I guess you have to assume they want to be able to follow to to where he has Rose... but they don't seem to be very good at keeping their eye on him! It made more sense to me to just capture him when he showed up in the hostpital... but I guess the plan to intall cameras in his house had merits as well. Man, that was funny when they screwed up and caved in the ceiling over his bed! I can't imagine he'll think it was a pure water tank leak for long. Interesting idea to use the dead body from the suicide to see if it brings anything out from Spector. Glad Stella thought to tell Rose's husband first! It's still annoying that we don't know if she's alive or dead. Spector continues to turn the babysitter into his own little minion, and the cops visit that patient of Spector's that lost the child. Dunno why they come back to that storyline.

The Fall 2x05 The Fall

Creepy scene this week with Burns meeting with the pedophile priest. Yeesh. The police's insistence on not arrested Paul in hopes he'll lead them to Rose backfires big time this week, as he uses his time at home to destroy all the evidence he needs. The cops should have just arrested him and interrogated him until he talked about Rose! The babysitter continues to be a creepy accomplice. A love lock, lol. And she destroys more evidence in Spector's hotel room before finally getting arrested. Oi! And finally the reason they've been coming back to that patient of Specter's that lost a kid is clear: Him attacking Jimmy in an alley leads to him ultimately being arrested. How odd. Of course the guy gets away, though, and I liked how you think Spector is almost getting away again too, before the new cop arrested him. Watching the video footage of Rose on Spector's video recording was a turn off, they definitely lingered on that for way too long. At least the cops did goot interrogation work on Sally Ann and the babysitter, and the forensics team finds enough evidence to charge Spector for the other murders as well. I didn't really get the ending with the burned car. What was supposed to be in there and when did Spector burn it? Is that the mannequin inside or Rose?

And even then, it's ONLY good because of Gillian Anderson's performance, and the writing for her character. Almost everything else is subpar.

Silicon Valley Season 2

Meant to write about each episode as I did last year but got lazy. Overall, a terrific followup season to the terrific first season. It's missing a moment on the level of that magic dick joke from the first season, but I suppose this season didn't really need it. I love all the characters and watching their ups and downs every week is always satisfying. It's still sad that Christopher Evan Welch passed away and they had to write his character off because he was so unique and different. But the new character of Laurie that replaced him was pretty unique and funny too. I'm a bit sad the Richard / Monica relationship wasn't really pursued this year, and loved the new character Carla and wish she was used more.

Already looking forward to season 3!

Community Season 6

Well I started by writing about the first couple episodes then just stopped. Oh well.

Overall, this is easily the best season since the original 3. It still sucks that Troy, Pierce, Shirley, John Oliver, and Hickey are all gone, but Paget Brewster and Keith David made very fine additions to the cast. The meta stuff throughout this season was always nicely done, and there were plenty of fine comedy set pieces. The show will never reach the heights again of the Troy/Abed days, but what can you do.

I wonder if there will be Season 7 or a movie. I can see neither ever happening.

Grey's never done that, as far as I can remember. He likes to discuss the merits of the music itself, and go into the theory behind it. But listing timestamps for every thematic statement is just asinine and one of the more pointless trends here at JWFan. It's why I got sick of the Hobbit forum. But hey, if others enjoy that kind of activity, great!

Apparently Yahoo is really excited for a movie and are trying to work out a deal with Harmon. He just needs to be willing to write the script. And hopefully they can get the whole crew back again, with Troy and Shirley namely.

It was a pretty good season, and as you said, the show's best since season 3.

Certain episodes are brilliant, it's bloody frustrating tbh.

Overall, I prefer the sublime consistency of the first two seasons of Arrested Development, which was another show which eventually nose-dived.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 1

Another show I meant to write about each week but didn't. Oh well.

Overall? One of hte best comedies on TV! The cast is so good and the writing is top notch. The writing is what really shines actually. Very 30-Rock esque, but more focused. 13 tight episodes a season is much preferable to 22 dragged out over 9 months. At first I liked everything about the show apart from Titus, but grew to like him enough (he's still my least favorite character by far). I love Carol Kane and Jane Krakowski, everything they say is almost always gold (shame Jacqueline isn't in every episode, what's up with that?) Her native american roots are always great flashbacks.

I also quite enjoyed the love triangle Kimmy gets into, I'm glad they didn't portray Kimmy as naive about dating as they could have. And both the men were intersting characters. I didn't like her new step dad or step sister as much.

Jon Hamm was great in the final episodes as the Reverend, as were Tina Fey and Tim Meadows. Hope they all come back for a run next season.

Steef seems to generally look down on TV shows that he hasn't watched but get praised by others. But once he watches them, he writes just as much about it here, if not more!

He used to mock Breaking Bad fans all the time, now he's one of the show's biggest fanboys!

Arrested Development was more consistent, true. But Community has a load of heart in it. I say keep going with it Lee!

Funny stuff, yes. But if you didn't like the crazier aspects of 30 Rock, this show probably isn't for you.
