I've always thought this fan made re-imagined version of the TOS Enterprise would have been better suited for J.J.'s film.

Yup had Jason add it since a good portion of us are using our first and last name anyways.

That is flipping brilliant. It helps that I haven't seen any of the films the source material was taken from, which makes it all the more half-believable. What were the Henry Thomas clips from?

I saw a spot taken from "The Sum Of All Fears" which is actually a really good film, I think you'd like it.

"Let me say, however, there is no "next" John Williams. Sadly, he is unique--- a figure who simultaneously embodies and transcends the music of all the masters of film music who preceded him (much like Brahms and Wagner of the Romantic era). He comes from a time when the craft of music in film was still one of the ear, heart and mind. Today, sadly, the craft is largely technical. Most composers do not conceive their music "inwardly" but rather at the computer--- and with rather limited skills, musically, at that. ROTFLMAO

Karol
From a storytelling point of view, from a directing point of view, there is one thing I associate with what he does, which is calm. There is such an inherent calm and inherent trust of the one powerful image, that he makes me embarrassed with my own work, in terms of how many different shots, how many different sound effects, how many different things we’ll throw at an audience to make an impression. But with Kubrick, there is such a great trust of the one correct image to calmly explain something to audience. There can be some slowness to the editing. There’s nothing frenetic about it. It’s very simple. There’s a trust in simple storytelling and simple image making that actually takes massive confidence to try and emulate. - Christopher Nolan

I just saw this over at Topless Robot. I didn't think an E.T. sequel would be a good idea until I saw this, and now I wish they would make it more than damn near anything. Awesome!

Here's a welcome rarity: "Evening at Pops" TV Special dedicated to the Spielberg/Williams collaboration (1990).

When she said it was one of his songs, I thought HE wrote it.

Then I realised ... that John Williams would never marry such a frying pan face.

well, I think he REALLY wanted to get the Oscar for that one.. it was pretty obvious (all the publicity he did for Geisha..) and after winning the Golden Globe, I guess he really thought the ods were on his side... well and he SHOULD have won!

Very nicely done. While Harry's theme from SS/PS is probably my least favourite theme from the score it translates very well to the piano. :)
