What about it? I meant Crowe's boat movie was top twenty material, if that's that you meant.

It's one of this rare movies which badly needs a sequel but absolutely does not.

Slowly but surely, Lee & Steef are slowly germinating their corrupt pervy-ness in every thread til the whole site will burst out in rainbows & golden showers.

I had a dream about it, actually.

Karol

From a storytelling point of view, from a directing point of view, there is one thing I associate with what he does, which is calm. There is such an inherent calm and inherent trust of the one powerful image, that he makes me embarrassed with my own work, in terms of how many different shots, how many different sound effects, how many different things we’ll throw at an audience to make an impression. But with Kubrick, there is such a great trust of the one correct image to calmly explain something to audience. There can be some slowness to the editing. There’s nothing frenetic about it. It’s very simple. There’s a trust in simple storytelling and simple image making that actually takes massive confidence to try and emulate. - Christopher Nolan

VISITING THIS BOARD SINCE: Yesterday, when my friend introduced me to it!

FUN FACT: I am related to John Williams! (Not spamming or looking for attention, we really are related- he's my 94-year-old great-grandmother's first cousin. I've never met him, but I REALLY want to, and I think I might be able to arrange it if I tried.) That's my main reason for joining this fan forum. I wanted to connect with people who love him (and want to meet him) as much as I do!

Are there any other relatives on this site? Does anyone know? It would be really cool to connect with someone I didn't know I was related to :-)

I believe Jason is right that you are the first Sarah.  Welcome to the board.  Don't let some of our older members scare you off like they have tended to towards other female posters.

Hi all,

I somehow stumbled across this fantastic forum while googling some topic of orchestration or another. I've been reading so much incredible insight, knowledge, and thoughtful commentary that I can't even remember what brought me here in the first place!

I've been a huge JW fan since childhood, and I can't believe I never thought to look for a forum dedicated to serious discussion of his music. I'm almost as wowed by the insight on this forum, as I was when I first heard the Star Wars theme a long time ago, in a Cineplex far, far away...

A big thank you to everyone who makes this forum such a wonderful repository and discussion of incredible wisdom on John Williams, film-scoring, orchestration, and everything else.
