Spielberg remaking Oldboy? http://www.empireonl...d.asp?NID=23705

I love the original, I think it's brilliant and it oozes style. But I'm finding it difficult to get excited for anything Spielberg lately.

Spielberg bought his ticket, he knew what he was getting into. I say, let him crash.

Lucas is responsible for all that is ill in the world today!

Robert Mugabe is still in power because of Lucas.

I guess it could be good. :D
Do you like John Williams? His early work was a little too jazzy for my taste, but when Jaws came out in '75 I really think he came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and an air of consummate professionalism that really gives the pieces a big boost. He's been compared to Jerry Goldsmith but I think John has a far more leitmotif-driven style of composing. In '82 John composed this, E.T., his most accomplished album to date. I think his undisputed masterpiece is "The Magic of Halloween", a theme so catchy most people don't listen to what it means. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of childhood and the importance of friendship, it's also a personal statement about the man himself. Hey Paul!

But as long as Lucas isn't involved, there's no chance of over CGIing the film.

I can't see how that could possibly be even kind of good. I had problems with the original, but I find it hard to believe that any of hte elements that made it good would translate.
I should be resisting this, but I'm paralyzed with rage... and island rhythms.

New shots from WOLVERINE! Looks good so far, read an interview in Empire and it sounds like it'll be a bit more introspective. Not sure about Jackman and Schreiber sharing the same chops, but as a huge Wolverine fan (hell, my kid's called Logan) I'm looking forward to this probably more than anything else.
Repeat the JWFan pledge after me: 'I hereby recognise John Towner Williams' place in the world as the great composer there has ever been, and I therefore renounce the works of Rozsa, Korngold, Herrmann, Horner, Kamen, Giacchino (unless the prophecy is fulfilled and he becomes the heir to JTW) and Goldsmith, especially Goldsmith. I understand that if I ever refer to Jurassic Park as anything less than "a masterpiece sixty-five million years in the making" I will be resigned to living out my days at the Zimmershrine.'

I wouldn't put much into Spielberg making this movie,

lets see he's making Tintin, Lincoln, Chicago 7, Interstellar, Oldboy, 39 Steps,

Williams will be dead before all those are made

Yea, yea, that website tells you all you need know about me, too.

No, it's not German, it's Norwegian (Død snø). I remember reading about all the special provisions that needed to be made to film parts of Valkyrie in Germany because of the particular banned symbol that needed to be shown in that film, which led to parts of it being shot in Russia. That symbol is shown freely in this Dead Snow.
I suggest a full frontal assault with automated laser monkeys, scalpel mines, and acid.

Okay, so films I really want to see:

The Reader
Revolutionary Road
Frost/Nixon
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button

Hmm, anything else? I kinda want to see Gran Torino. I wanted to see Synecdoche, New York but I believe I missed my chance.

Oh btw, The Reader and Revolutionary Road have some of the best trailers that I have ever seen.

I want to see Milk, W., and Benjamin Button. Of course, I've been saying W. ever since before it came out, so I'm not sure I'll see any of those films before they leave theatres.

Oh, and I'd like to see TDK again on DVD.

W. has been out of theaters for awhile, at least in my area. Milk is still a limited release, and I don't know if it will go wide.
