You avoid cereals and eat more meat in order to become healthier?

Cereal is great. Bran keeps you regular.

I used to eat too few meat and fish. I need more fruit, meat, fishies, veggies (really love vegetables). I lived in an excess of cereals that was completely unnatural. Too much pasta, too much bread. Too much wheat... I hardly eat any bread now.

A salad with chicken and a banana feels great for breakfast, for example. I'm really not satisfied anymore by some of the usuals anymore, they leave me hungry.

Recently I feel as if Life is catching up with me. O.k., I don't look as good in a Speedo as I used to, but, what the hey. But I found out today that my mum has the big C. It is treatable, thank the maker, but even so, I guess it still comes as a shock. More and more, bad things seem to be happening to people who are closer and closer to me. It used to be great-great uncles and stuff, then it was happening to grandparents, then cousins, then my uncle, and now my mother. How soon will it catch up to me? Do I worry about my health? Well, there are some things that I can nothing about: when it's my time to go, it's my time to go. I just hope that the quality of my life on this planet has some sort of lasting value. I don't care about being remembered-I don't want a statue of me, for crying out loud (o.k., if I do, I jolly well hope that it's anatomically correct!) I just want to somehow rest in the knowledge that I made a difference to the world, however small. As for my health, I'm eating less, and I've lost weight. I don't drink, and I walk to most places. yeah, I feel o.k. I have absolutely no idea what life is going to hit me with next; I just hope that I have the strength to cope with it. In the meantime, I might just (re)take up my favourite sport. Now, where did I put that Speedo?

An interesting question, Josh, and one which I am not sure how to answer.
Sometimes, we don't know how our lives will affect others. By that standard, we are all links in a chain, forming one very, very large connection called The Human Race. Some people want to leave their mark on the world by some philanthropic gesture. personally, I think that most people who wish to do that, are self-serving, empty, and have a narcissistic personality disorder. I don't care if people don't remember me, but I hope that they may be affected by a certain kindness that I perhaps once showed, or take on board some advice imparted to them. What I'm trying to say, is that I hope that my actions and words somehow acquire their own meaning and importance, even if the source is forgotten. This informs my work ethic: that people remember the kindness showed, and not necessarily the person who showed it.
I know that in the Big Scheme of things, I am virtually nothing, but I know who I love, and I know who loves me, and that gives me comfort, and the strenghth to carry on.
I'm not sure if that answers your question, Josh, but it's the best I can do.

You couldn't be wronger there! Few people are like that, sure, but bottom line is we need more philanthropic people. People may say (and believe) whatever they want, but money is still power. Without money, you can do or achieve NOTHING in this world. So wealthy people who give away a lot of money for the general good (say, Bill Gates) are to be applauded. Food, shelter, health care, etc. etc. - everything costs money. And there are many many people in the world who don't have enough to cover these basic needs.

Note that I didn't say, though, that money is the most important thing... ;)

Personally, I want to help as many people as I can, for example victims of Human Trafficking, destitute people in Developing and Third World Countries, etc.

That's my mission, and that's one of the things I hope I will be remembered for.

I agree, but I also think that everyone should be philanthropic, and everyone should do what they can, not just the super-rich.
I stand by what I posted.
Does anyone think that these people who bulid empires don't care about what happens to them after they are dead? Of course they do, otherwise they would not make provision for these enterprises when, at last, they shuffle off this mortal coil.
"There are no roof-racks on hearses". O.k., I'm praraphrasing Don Henley, but he has a point: you can't take it with you. IMO, it is far better to remember the act, than the one who carried it out.
There is another reason that I differ with previous posters, and it is this: The World can go to Hell. In fact, the World IS going to Hell. I work for a wordly organisation, but the work I do is, ultimately not done for, nor will be remembered, by that organisation.
Without wishing to break the "no religion" rule, I'll say that I work for a "higher authority", and that underlines all my work, whether paid, or unpaid. My ultimate employer is not of this Earth.

I don't exactly over worry about mine, but I do worry about it. I was born with, and of course still have chronic Kidney disease. Its unreal what it can prevent you from doing... every day stuff thats easy for many people become almost impossible. This has five stages to it before the kidney actually dies and another transplant is needed or dialysis is started. Currently, test results show i'm in stage 3. Yeah, I get worried whenever anything happens that can speed up the process so to speak.

I much prefer to eat meat over cereals, in fact I do. Avoid fish, it smells awful.

this is a great time of year to eat, lots of great corn on the cob, fresh peas (field peas, white cream peas, blackeyed peas, even green peas), lots of great yellow squash.

Not only do those taste great but they help keep you regular and provide tons of energy
OH God, Joe is posting again, someone hand me my pills!

"You're not John Conner, I saw you die, said Kyle". "I was only injured, replied John". "No, your injuries were too severe, you died. Look at you, where are your injuries? You're, you're a Terminator." "Kyle, its still me, yes my body was beyond repair, but my essence is here." He points to his head. "No John". Kyle raised his pulse rifle and aimed it at John but before he could fire, John fired first. Knocked to the ground Kyle looked up at the Terminator in the form of the man he once idolized. All hope was lost. "If you kill me how will you ever be born?" "Thats a good question Kyle, all this time we've focus on Sarah, on John, when had we known the it was you we should have targeted all along." John pointed his rifle at Kyle's face. "The resistance is finished, the battle is won. We the machines are the victors, salvation is ours." Kyle never heard the second shot.

Half of my wisdom is gone, irreplacably gone.

Yes, I got my wisdom tooth pulled an hour ago, with my eyes wide open. Should have done it for years because it sticks out askew and pushes against the other teeth.
Finally, my lymphatic tissue on my chin became swollen, so it needed to be done.

Luckily, I got painkillers galore.

I had a terrible tooth ache couple of months ago. It was so hard that even the painkillers didn't help so I pounded a bottle of

Luckily, I am still quite healthy so far... but I am starting to think that I might have a touch of hypochondriasis.

Recently, I am thinking (though maybe not exactly worrying) more and more often about my health. Is it healthy to eat this or that, should I do this or that to stay healthy, when should I see my doctor next, etc. etc. And when I do see my doctor, what questions do I ask, etc.

A healthy person usually doesn't think about his health very often, does he? Sometimes, sure, but not often.

My blood pressure was a little high for some time, but now it's back to normal. That was the only health issue in my recent past. :)

It's not hypochondriasis, people just start increasingly to worry about their health in age 30-40. Quite normal.

Been there, seen it. :)

Ars superior est vita hominum.

"We pop out and come into the world and music is there. We didn't invent it - it's all organised in the atmosphere by divinity or whatever. It's a miracle." - John Williams-

I think music is a stream of some kind. It could be blood. It could be water. It could be ether. Whatever it is it seems to be a living, organic force that’s in motion, that serves humanity and is part of humanity and part of what describes us as humans. We sing, play, dance, all the things that we do. And there is a vibrant and great literature we have been given. ... As musicians, we join the stream. We swim in the stream with all the other millions of music makers. It’s a life force, a strong one, surrounding us and we are part of it. -John Williams-

I don't drink too much, almost never smoke, exercise regularly, eat a lot of herbs and greens everyday and I'm almost never ill (3 years ago I had never taken a painkiller pill).

but a while back when I was gonna stay up all night and study I downed a big can of energy drink and two big cups of coffee:( (I get dizzy and shaky after two small cups), I was absolutely sure I was gonna die, and after that I'm a bit hypochondriac myself hehe:(

Most women I know are or were at some point on pain meds at least for 3 days a month. But I guess everyone is different.

I can also understand that, as the only time I've ever really taken pain meds is when I felt like I was going to die if I didn't. Otherwise I feel the pain is a good way to assess how well you're doing.
