This is why tablets are pointless. If you're buying a keyboard attachment, you should have gotten a laptop in the first place.

No, absolutely wrong.

I bought a keyboard/protection case/stand because sometimes if I have to write a long email or text, it can be usefull and more efficient to do it using a normal keyboard. But when i had a netbook, i used it mostly for browsing, shorts posts, watching youtube etc...

So 95% of the time i wont need a "real" keyboard and the touch version does it's job very well.

Are you the ant-matter version of Quint?

Absolutely not. Hardly any of the things I do with my tablet could be done equally well with a laptop.

I find a full touch screen be be an improvement over a laptop touch pad.

A tablet is no replacement for a desktop, but it's a perfect addition.

For me a tablet has utterly replaced my laptop. But yeah, they're no replacement for a pc at a workstation.

Yes, though I've used my netbook perhaps twice since I bought the tablet. A desktop (or fully equipped laptop - but I prefer a desktop these days as I have two equally sized large screens and cabling to both my stereo systems) for working cannot be replaced by a netbook or tablet, and I still prefer it for internet browsing, too. The tablet is great for always being in my bag and ready to use whenver I'm away. Also for quick internet searches when I have friends over, and perfect to backup my photos on a holiday and as a photo viewer.

A netbook is a decent replacement for when you occasionally have to work/type a lot away from home and can't justify a full laptop.

After having a second thought, my question was stupid. We have also all those gadgets in our household and
I use them all in different needs. And of course like you, include also the smartphones, kind of mini computers.

Life has become weird.

I sold my pc after getting the laptop. PCs are bad for one's heart and mind.

After getting the iPad, my laptop was demoted to torrent client.

The only downside to my eradicating my time spent on a pc is the lazy creativity aspect. I used to be pretty good with photoshop, I loved making animated gifs and stupid images; I'd spend ages editing cues with various tools, I can't imagine now going to the effort to share that Charge of the Rohirrim cue I posted here years ago before the EE release; and the drinking at my desk to John Williams music blaring out my speakers whilst posting here and on Empireonline in the early hours. That part I don't miss at all.

Yeah, I don't do anything creative with computers anymore. Nowadays I just consume media, from the comfort of the sofa. I think it's healthier.

I'm currently reading this face-down in the recovery position in bed, with my hand and thumb operating my phone over the edge of the bed. It's pitch black, but this browser I'm using has a very useful night mode. I'll be asleep soon!

Dekstops are more or less dead, in my opinion. Unless your profession or hobby (such as gaming) requires their processing power, everything average people do can be done on a laptop.

A laptop can do everything a tablet can do, and more, sans touch screen, etc. They're oversized smartphones, which can be useful at times, I will agree. I have a Macbook, a Kindle Fire, and an HTC Incredible piece of shit. I primarily use my Fire for reading, but will do the occasional apps and gaming on it. I rarely use it for web browsing, and I can't even imaging typing a post such as this on it. It takes too long and with autocorrect misspellings galore. It's the perfect size too at 7 inches; if you go iPad level, a Macbook Air will suit you better.

I know I've discussed this before with you guys, when they become more affordable I can accept their uses. Right now a 64GB iPad with 3G will run you what, $800? Just get a laptop. If you say you don't need the 3G or the space, well then I envy that you can afford such an expensive web browser for the couch.

In 50 years Herrmann will be forgotten.
