God I want an iPhone. Really considering dropping out of the family plan and just getting my own on AT&T.

My phone's browser sucks as well, always getting network errors and such, no point in even having access if it's going to do that. It also does this thing where I will click on a text conversation. Everything will load fine, I'll type up my text and send, and then it will send it to a random person in my contacts. Makes for very awkward instances.

What happened to your staunch anti-apple stance?

Oh, it was just weasel words, 'cause you were "in that phase".

I've never been anti-Apple.

I still want an iPhone, but I'm waiting until my current plan expires in August, hopefully right when the new one comes out.

In 50 years Herrmann will be forgotten.

The specs have leaked for the next iphone, it's exactly the same as the correct one with a bigger screen (but not overall bigger size). And iOS 6 seems to be no big deal from people using it now. Android phones are leapfrogging apple ones now

I don't demand much from my phone, as long as it works and doesn't send my texts to random people and delete my contacts for no reason. I know Apple will deliver for my needs.

In 50 years Herrmann will be forgotten.

The iPhone 4s was a bit of a let down. If this next one is also a bit disappointing it could be a real problem.
It's not in Apple's nature to be this conservative.

Yeah, I posted the video to illustrate how incompetently it's handled...not necessarily the software failure. That stuff happens a lot. That's why when we demo games it's usually pre-recorded.

The worst example though is the company that live demoed their Android tablet last year but didn't want to let anyone touch it, and when the reporters got their hands on it it turned out to be running a video simulating the entire system.

See that's what I think is worrisome with Surface. No one has gotten to play with its killer feature Keyboard.

All the blogs and news sites say they got to play with the tablet, but the tablets with the keyboard case were unpowered.

My iPhone became a casualty, so I went for the best phone out at the time which was the Galaxy Nexus.

Good solid workhorse. Not as refined as an iPhone...but it gits 'er done.

That's how I feel about my S2. ICS did go some way towards said refinement, though. I'm not sure I'd swap it for a 4S anymore. The web browser and keyboard alone absolutely destroys the iPhone equivalent, I've come to appreciate. Maybe the new iPhone will make me not want an S3, but I'm not convinced.

Honestly out of all the phones I've had the iPhone is by far been the best one I have owned. The others by the third or fourth time I accidentally dropped them I had to replace them. The Droid Eris was particularly bad at that, the third time I had to replace it. I've dropped my iPhone dozens of times all ready and it still is ticking like it hasn't been dropped.

Also another thing that annoyed me with other phones I had especially the Droid Eris the phone would lock up for no apparent reason and become slow and lag a lot. The iPhone lags every now and then but nothing that a lock and unlock or quick reboot won't solve. Every time the Droid Eris locked up on me I had to take the damn battery out in order to reboot it.

Since owning an iPhone, I can't see myself switching to another brand like the Droid or whatever.

I keep reading that both are good smartphones so I think, based on looks, I would go for an iPhone 4s. It's smaller too.

Meanwhile, I hold on to my old man's smartphone, the totally unhip BB Javelin 8900! It's indestructible! And the camera (pictures) is pretty good for 3.2 MP.

Apple doesn't make it easy, unfortunately. They want you to buy movies from their iTunes store instead

On my android tablet it was super easy, I just dragged the mkvs into a folder in my tablet then used Mx player to play them

Unpossible. You must have gotten that wrong. Apple is the user friendly one. Android is ugly, only for tech geeks who know what they're doing, and all the good parts are stolen directly from Apple.
