Holy wow.

Doesn't mean much to me though - I never heard her music and it sounded like she had some troubles.

RIP.

Not unexpected, but sad.

Do you like John Williams? His early work was a little too jazzy for my taste, but when Jaws came out in '75 I really think he came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and an air of consummate professionalism that really gives the pieces a big boost. He's been compared to Jerry Goldsmith but I think John has a far more leitmotif-driven style of composing. In '82 John composed this, E.T., his most accomplished album to date. I think his undisputed masterpiece is "The Magic of Halloween", a theme so catchy most people don't listen to what it means. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of childhood and the importance of friendship, it's also a personal statement about the man himself. Hey Paul!

Holy shit. What waste.

She was every bit the talent she was renound for and then some. Shame about the attitude on her, but now she's bound to be remembered as a sort of James Dean of the music industry and I'm being completely serious. RIP

I don't feel sad a bit, she got what she was after. No great loss.
OH God, Joe is posting again, someone hand me my pills!

"You're not John Conner, I saw you die, said Kyle". "I was only injured, replied John". "No, your injuries were too severe, you died. Look at you, where are your injuries? You're, you're a Terminator." "Kyle, its still me, yes my body was beyond repair, but my essence is here." He points to his head. "No John". Kyle raised his pulse rifle and aimed it at John but before he could fire, John fired first. Knocked to the ground Kyle looked up at the Terminator in the form of the man he once idolized. All hope was lost. "If you kill me how will you ever be born?" "Thats a good question Kyle, all this time we've focus on Sarah, on John, when had we known the it was you we should have targeted all along." John pointed his rifle at Kyle's face. "The resistance is finished, the battle is won. We the machines are the victors, salvation is ours." Kyle never heard the second shot.

You should have said 'yes'.

Come to think of it, the only photos I've seen of Winehouse show her as looking in some sort of trance or intoxicated.

Whatever she was doing in her private life, and what ultimately killed her, showed.

Oh the irony of life:

Amy Winehouse's struggles to quit drugs were well documented. But her family fears that sudden abstinence from alcohol might have been what led to her death last Saturday at age 27, according to a report.

Your body would have to be very, very dependant on alcohol for something like this to happen. It means that for a long period of time she must have been almost constantly drunk.

If it's true, of course,

"Winehouse ignored doctors' advice to step back gradually from her heavy drinking and went cold turkey in the past month, "

Withdrawal from chronic alcool intake lasts about 5 days, and people can die in some cases. But if you survive it there's no reason to die afterward, certainly not a few weeks later. I think this is just to restore a semi positive image of her death

You are wrong. Remember the international attention his death received. For several weeks it dominated the news. Every radio station was playing his music, his albums reached the charts again.

He's been forgiven by collective humanity, and rightly so.
