This guy hitched a ride from Europe to the US. Does anyone know what it is?

About 7.6 cm long. Scary, ghastly looking beastie.

I don't have the bug. I didn't take the picture.

7.62 cm is 3 inches. An American quarter is 0.955 in in diameter, making this bug the length of 3.14 U.S. quarters.

That's pretty big, but since the photo was taken at an angle, I don't have the photoshop skills to make the quarters recede into the page.

It's the head that I'm more interested in, as it looks ready to carve open a soup can.

In 20 years, its offspring will be younger than 35, the required age to get to be president.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dobsonfly

Though both male and female dobsonflies have sharp mandibles, those of an adult male dobsonfly are actually so big – up to 1 inch (25 mm) – that they are unable to harm humans, as they have such poor leverage that they are incapable of breaking the skin. Their mandibles are used exclusively during mating, where males show them off and grasp the females during copulation

So if it tries to grab your wife, don't worry it doesn't want to eat her, just wants some love.

not as scary as a camel spider
OH God, Joe is posting again, someone hand me my pills!

"You're not John Conner, I saw you die, said Kyle". "I was only injured, replied John". "No, your injuries were too severe, you died. Look at you, where are your injuries? You're, you're a Terminator." "Kyle, its still me, yes my body was beyond repair, but my essence is here." He points to his head. "No John". Kyle raised his pulse rifle and aimed it at John but before he could fire, John fired first. Knocked to the ground Kyle looked up at the Terminator in the form of the man he once idolized. All hope was lost. "If you kill me how will you ever be born?" "Thats a good question Kyle, all this time we've focus on Sarah, on John, when had we known the it was you we should have targeted all along." John pointed his rifle at Kyle's face. "The resistance is finished, the battle is won. We the machines are the victors, salvation is ours." Kyle never heard the second shot.

Looks like something from The Mist.
Pictures, visual images, are far better to achieve that end than any words, particularly now, when the world has lost all mystery and magic and speech has become mere chatter, empty of meaning - Andrei Tarkovsky

Someone should make a thread called "What's the most repulsive looking creature on the plane?". Could be disgustingly interesting. Human suggestions not allowed.

Not long ago I used an airline called 'Norwegian'. You get to the check in desk and do everything yourself with only one member of staff loitering nearby in case of difficultys.

On a little touch screen console located next to the unmanned check in desk, you scan the bar code on the print out of your booking receipt, then scan your passport details and use the touch screen to confirm a few things. It then prints out that long luggage label which you then attach to your hold baggage, then you put your luggage on the weighing rack and use a little scanner gun to scan it in and away your luggage goes. It's the first time I've had that. It's how they keep the flight cost down I'm sure, but the other side of the coin is that it's putting people out of jobs of course.
