I wouldn't be surprised we get a full track list from Amazon or some other retailer in less than 14 days

Yes. I expect there to be a 16 and 19 track track lists distributed evenly among different Amazon sites to keep us guessing. ;)

Ars superior est vita hominum.

"We pop out and come into the world and music is there. We didn't invent it - it's all organised in the atmosphere by divinity or whatever. It's a miracle." - John Williams-

I think music is a stream of some kind. It could be blood. It could be water. It could be ether. Whatever it is it seems to be a living, organic force that’s in motion, that serves humanity and is part of humanity and part of what describes us as humans. We sing, play, dance, all the things that we do. And there is a vibrant and great literature we have been given. ... As musicians, we join the stream. We swim in the stream with all the other millions of music makers. It’s a life force, a strong one, surrounding us and we are part of it. -John Williams-

LOL - if anyone thinks the movie will end with the horse still alive then I don't know what to tell you.

I certainly didn't need to know that. Unless you're joking of course.

I don't know anything about War Horse! I haven't read the book or seen the play or read any spoilers about the movie whatsoever, I promise! I haven't heard any score other than what's in the first trailer, I don't have and haven't seen any sheet music, I don't know any cue titles. Other than the 2 already posted, I don't know any OST track titles.

I've just seen a lot of movies in my day and I assume the movie ends with the horse dying. That's 100% pure speculation. I promise!

I won't openly speculate any more though. Sorry!

I have no idea how it's supposed to end but I think the horse will survive by pure luck, while everybody else around it dies. Anyway that's just how I would want to write it.

From a storytelling point of view, from a directing point of view, there is one thing I associate with what he does, which is calm. There is such an inherent calm and inherent trust of the one powerful image, that he makes me embarrassed with my own work, in terms of how many different shots, how many different sound effects, how many different things we’ll throw at an audience to make an impression. But with Kubrick, there is such a great trust of the one correct image to calmly explain something to audience. There can be some slowness to the editing. There’s nothing frenetic about it. It’s very simple. There’s a trust in simple storytelling and simple image making that actually takes massive confidence to try and emulate. - Christopher Nolan

Indeed. I guess the movie gets PG-13 rating then. ;)

Hey Jason, if any tracks include spoilers in them could you please tag them? I'd hate to see "The War Horse's Noble End" listed. Thanks!

I heard rumors the last track will be:

16. Flogging a **** horse and Finale.

Yes forming a friendship with an animal is an alien concept. Certainly worth a few dirty thoughts at least. I bet this story is going to be a lurid and sleazy one if there is bonding involved.

I've never kept a pet at my house so it is a bit of a foreign concept for me. Nothing against animals though.

The last two sound like montages, which probably allow for some nice opportunities musically.
Recently Purchased CDs:
1. Nightwatch/Killer By Night - Johnny Williams and Quincy Jones 2. Diamond Head/Gone with the Wave - Johnny Williams/Lalo Schifrin 3. Mass - Leonard Bernstein 4. Bernstein with the New York Philharmonic - Leonard Bernstein

Awesome, keep 'em coming! And agreed with Joe, always nice to see a film that isn't just littered with 30 second transitionary cues, especially when it's a drama. God knows there's a lot of that going around these days.

It means that KM is not a least bit worried about the War Horse soundtrack release. Which is a counterbalance to the depressed hysteria that is taking over because of Tintin. ;)

It's obviously because Williams seldom screws up the OST release of his drama scores, as opposed to his action/adventure/fantasy/sf scores.

Just because you or KM don't like it, doesn't mean JW screwed up!

I for one am quite happy with most of his releases -- drama and action/adventure/fantasy/sf, especially because we got many many expanded or complete editions over the years.

Which again has to do with the fact that his fans are much more interested of his action/adventure scores and obsessively want every note from them and not the "dull" drama scores that can have hours of music missing from the album and no one cares.

Plus he really compiles good albums for his drama scores. ;)
