You can still check, at any given point in time, how many copies are still left, right?

You just pretend to order a very great number of copies and see what it says back, right?

A) You are assuming that LLR's inventory does not have a safety stock feature, by which it would retain a set amount or fixed percentage of remaining inventory that is not for sale.
B) You are disregarding all units that LLR has sold to third parties, e.g. Intrada, SAE, MovieMusic, BSX, etc.

Putting a very large number in my shopping cart doesn't give me a warm fuzzy.

It also assumes that they have the entire pressing in stock, which has been said directly by (I think) Roger at Intrada is not the case. They didn't press all 10,000 units of Back to the Future at once.

So yes - there is no way to confidently know unless the label says so.

Anybody else want to enter the pool?

After it goes on sale, there can be no more entries!

If LLL sells out but other companies still have copies, does that count as the sellout?
Recently Purchased CDs:
1. Nightwatch/Killer By Night - Johnny Williams and Quincy Jones 2. Diamond Head/Gone with the Wave - Johnny Williams/Lalo Schifrin 3. Mass - Leonard Bernstein 4. Bernstein with the New York Philharmonic - Leonard Bernstein

Well technically they are out of LLL's hands so I guess it would be logical to assume it has sold out then. But that's a good question.

Ars superior est vita hominum.

"We pop out and come into the world and music is there. We didn't invent it - it's all organised in the atmosphere by divinity or whatever. It's a miracle." - John Williams-

I think music is a stream of some kind. It could be blood. It could be water. It could be ether. Whatever it is it seems to be a living, organic force that’s in motion, that serves humanity and is part of humanity and part of what describes us as humans. We sing, play, dance, all the things that we do. And there is a vibrant and great literature we have been given. ... As musicians, we join the stream. We swim in the stream with all the other millions of music makers. It’s a life force, a strong one, surrounding us and we are part of it. -John Williams-

Yes. It's considered sold out when LLL officially posts that its old out. If 3rd party retailers still have copies lying around that is irrelevant.

When we write to LLL asking how many copies are still left, do they write back?

Just curious.

Huh.

But I hope they put up a LOW ALERT notice before it does sell out...

My copy is safe and probably already on its way, but damn! I still care! :)

Of course they will put up a low stock alert notice before it sells out.

Go to their home page right now and you will see a whole bunch of low stock alerts!

Except in the case of HOOK, the low alert notice might be useless. I imagine the stock is going away so fast, by the time anybody notices the warning, it's already sold out.

Wouldn't suprise me at all.

You guys are overreacting.

Of all the 5000 unit CD's LLL did, Trek 5 sold out fastest and that took months, even though it's a Trek score and no bootleg ever existed.

Don't you think "Hook" will be more popular than "Trek 5"?

I am starting to think so anyway. Probably LLL's biggest seller to date. Still, my original prediction stands. It will be sold out not before April 12th!

Williams is the best-selling composer ever. Spielberg is the best-selling director ever. And there is over an hour of never-before-released music.

It will definitely sell out quicker than Trek 5 did.

Maybe a little bit, but it's not gonna sell out in days, like a 3000 unit Holy grail like Die Hard

Not true, I have one. It's an awful DVD rear channel rip with voices -- I still wait for Kirk to tell me he wants his pain, he needs his pain when I listen to LLR's album -- but it's a bootleg audio presentation that I downloaded, all the same.

@Wojo: stop being facetious.

Not really.

A decent bootleg has been there for more then a decade. Also Hook is one of Spielberg's lesser known films.

Don't confuse lesser-known for lesser-appreciated or lesser-loved.

RT actually puts 1941 four points above Hook, but you can't measure "known."

Hook is a terrible movie, I hope to never see it again. The score is Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I won't be purchasing this, I have Stefan's more than adequate Kira Nyrees release. it's even loaded on my mp3 player, but todate it has never been selected.
OH God, Joe is posting again, someone hand me my pills!

"You're not John Conner, I saw you die, said Kyle". "I was only injured, replied John". "No, your injuries were too severe, you died. Look at you, where are your injuries? You're, you're a Terminator." "Kyle, its still me, yes my body was beyond repair, but my essence is here." He points to his head. "No John". Kyle raised his pulse rifle and aimed it at John but before he could fire, John fired first. Knocked to the ground Kyle looked up at the Terminator in the form of the man he once idolized. All hope was lost. "If you kill me how will you ever be born?" "Thats a good question Kyle, all this time we've focus on Sarah, on John, when had we known the it was you we should have targeted all along." John pointed his rifle at Kyle's face. "The resistance is finished, the battle is won. We the machines are the victors, salvation is ours." Kyle never heard the second shot.

Oh Stefan and your "get nice profit schemes" of scalping huge sums at eBay for limited soundtrack albums from obsessive film music nerds!

according to the LALALAND website

HOOK is temporarily out-of-stock as the remaninder of the run is currently being pressed. Orders for this title will be processed and shipped when the CD arrives back in stock, which will be 1-2 weeks. Thanks for your patience and support

so they didn't press all 5000 at once.
