I am planning to buy the DVD in the near future.

My girlfriend surprised me with the 3D Blu Ray last week, quite unexpectedly.

No deleted scenes listed but maybe some are tucked away in some of the special features (though I doubt it)

I would get the Blu-ray... except I don't have a Blu-ray player yet.

:P

But the Blu-ray does offer more extras (featurettes, documentaries), right?

No and I'm not sure if I do plan to get it or War Horse. When it comes to Spielberg, I'm finding that I desire his films from Jaws through 2002, with a few excepted from that stretch. I love the guy's work, but his more recent stuff just isn't doing it for me like he used to.

This is a good example. I watched it, it was alright. A mostly entertaining way to spend a couple hours wearing dorky 3D glasses. War Horse wasn't that bad, either. Yet, I have no desire to review them.

I don't buy movies on DVD anymore... but Steven Spielberg movies and/or John Williams scored movies are the exceptions. (And James Cameron movies too.)

I got the steelbook blu-ray.

I'll get it when I'm in sweden, don't want the norwegian cover. I don't know why the norwegians keep renaming the characters all the time, it's ridiculous. it's either milou or snowy, not terry (???)

some other funny examples of norwegian stupidity:

weasley = wiltersen

dumbledore = humlesnurr

hagrid = gygrid

neville longbottom = nilus langballe

malfoy = malfang

mcgonagall = mcsnurp

snape = slur

Posted

Terry! :lol:

Hey, but that's better than "Struppi" in German!

Posted

Poor Milou! He gets renamed all over the world!

And you'd think nothing is easier than pronouncing "Milou"... ;)

Posted

snape = slur

Well, Snape is kind of a slut, so it's fitting, I guess.

Slur BloodBoal, not slut! Stop slurring Slur! I mean Snake... Sorry Snape.

By the way, I think it's fascinating that "bonus material" in Swedish is "bonus material." Hey, I do know some Swedish after all! How 'bout that!

Posted

If the DVD doesn't have good bonus features then I'll wait until I get the Blu-ray player. Because let's face it, bonus featurettes are the only thing we ever watch, right.

Posted

Okay these are included on the Blu-ray:

Special Features:

  • "The Journey to Tintin" Featurette
  • "Toasting Tintin: Part 1 and 2" Featurette
  • "The World of Tintin" Featurette
  • "The Who's Who of Tintin" Featurette
  • "Tintin: Conceptual Design" Featurette
  • "Tintin: In the Volume" Featurette
  • "Snowy: From Beginning to End" Featurette
  • "Animating Tintin" Featurette
  • "Tintin: The Score" Featurette
  • "Collecting Tintin" Featurette

As far as I know, the ones I marked bold are the only ones included on the DVD...

Dunno, I think this movie has a LOT of rewatch value. Kinda like Raiders...

I wasn't entirely serious with that statement you know. ;)

That said I am glad JWs documentary is on the DVD.

No, and I probably won't. But I might pick up War Horse.

Posted

Not yet. But I surely will when the price will drop down at cheap discount (never ever buy BDs or DVDs when they're just released!)

Yeah, I didn't mock you when you talked about Tintin's slutting theme, so why do you feel the need to bring me down? Uncool, Ink.

Are you going to get this film on DVD/Blu-ray btw? I seem to vaguely recall you didn't like something about it.
Posted

I will when it comes down in price, however I will get War Horse first.

this one is my favorite!

There's no point in me picking up Blu Rays right now, but at some point in my life this is among the films I would like to have.

Terry! :lol:

or bobbie in dutch! :lol:

Bobbie is a fantastic name!

Tintins? WTF?

Tintin his adventures.

I'll get it when I get back into watching movies again. I'm in the thick of tv stuff at the moment, to the point that I'm feeling swamped. I need to catch up with Mad Men, watch The Walking Dead S2, Carnivale is on my list, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Boardwalk.

Basically, I've got no chance.

What's wrong with Milou? It isn't cuddly enough for most countries? Or does it mean something dirty in most languages?

Although in all fairness Tintin is translated to Tintti in Finnish for some reason. Oddly most other names are either kept as they are or they are translated pretty faithfully into Finnish from French.

Posted

Nope. Never saw it, not interested, and I won't be getting it on round media with a fingerhole in the middle, either.

There always has to be that one guy who refuses to hop on the bandwagon of the next big pop craze in Hollywood. Don't take that away from me.

I have to say the best poster is definitely the one with Tintin walking around the globe (not crashing a bike through a wall on the globe?). He looks kinda lame on the motorcycle.

Of course, Paramount always has to use the good artwork for their Blu-ray 3D releases. Thor, Captain America, Hugo and now Tintin. I had to settle for the DVD myself.

Posted

Nope, and not planning to.

It was reasonably entertaining, but not something I feel the need to own.

In Spain they almost named Tintin "Pepito".

:shakehead:

Bwahaahhaa. Pepito! ROTFLMAO

You mean the artwork? Or are you into Spanish? "Las Aventuras de Pepito"?

This reminds me of that actor in Tintin (Gad Elmaleh?) who seemed genuinely upset on the DVD featurette! Made me laugh.

"Snowy??? Come on! It's MILOU!!!"

I will get it when its priced at 10 euro.

Until a few days ago, it was priced at 9,99 Euro at amazon.de. Now it's up again.

i'm waiting to get the trilogy pack in the future.

You will be old and gray by then! Maybe you can borrow it from one of your grandkids! :P
