Josh500 1,620 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 You know, with documentaries on the actual MAKING OF THE FILM, score featurette, interviews with Spielberg on MAKING OF THE FILM, etc.Discuss!(The Shoah Foundation extras that we currently have is nice, but not exactly movie-related.)
Josh500 1,620 Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 We don't know anything about the extras yet, do we?By the way, I'd love to see a making of the film... but maybe that will never be released.
crumbs 16,007 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Pretty sure I remember an article about this. Spielberg was the one who stopped any kind of "bonus features" being attached to this film because he felt it was inappropriate given the subject matter. I understand his reasoning and personally think it's the right choice.

(Tastefully done, needless to say.)Kinda like SPR the Special Edition!
Maurizio 6,913 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 From what is known, there's a lot of backstage material that was filmed on the set (in gorgeous black&white). A few of that material has been used back then for EPK reels distributed to broadcast TV channels for promotional/news purposes. I still should have somewhere on an old VHS tape a 30min. featurette that was aired on local public television here in 1993, with interviews with Spielberg, Neeson and a few of the survivors. BBC UK also made a special feature with an exclusive interview with Spielberg, if I remember well. It's true Spielberg doesn't want to capitalize on this particular film, but it's likely we'll see something on the upcoming Blu-ray release however, probably a brand new making-of documentary produced by Bouzereau with interviews at cast & crew.If you want a really good making-of piece about Schindler's List, read this wonderful book written by a Polish journalist who followed closely the shooting of the whole film:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Witness-The-Making-Schindlers-List/dp/0752817914

(Or I will just have to get a Bluray player...)
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I am hoping for a blooper reel!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Josh, the thoughts are on blu ray now, not DVD, though it will come out when the Universal 100 series Schindler's List comes out. .I am hoping for a blooper reel!there is tons of stuff on the net, there is the crying scene from near the end except Liam Neeson keeps breaking into laughter during the sequence. He did it 3 or 4 times, it's hilarious to watch. He's crying saying I could have saved more then he breaks into laughter and says no I couldn't....
Neimoidian 15 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 And I am hoping we will get a Special Edition DVD too.You mean one where they turn all guns into walkie-talkies?

He's crying saying I could have saved more then he breaks into laughter and says no I couldn't....then there's the one that got pulled from Youtube within a few hours after it first appeared, were Spielberg is heard whispering to Liam Neeson that he doesn't buy this Holocaust bullshit at all...."Let's face it Liam, 6 million people don't just disappear!"

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Hopefully LLL will release that next. It's possible the nest John Williams music thats still officially unreleased. The bootleg is nice, but the sound is a bit iffy.I'd love to hear the choir on Celie and Nettie Reunite in great sound quality.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 There is no such thing, unlike the TCP score by JW.

Wojo 2,458 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 When a dog chases its tail, it's funny for everyone involved.
Josh500 1,620 Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 But still... I'd like to see the documentaries on MAKING of the film. There's gotta be some footage.

I'd like to see the documentaries on MAKING of the film. There's gotta be some footage.that is why DVD and BluRay are great, there is room for that stuff and I want to know as much about a movie and the processes used to make the film, especially genre or historical films.

Makes you appreciate it even more, when you see all the work that went into creating it...
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 That's why I love Cameron's releases, he overwhelms you with extra's something Lucas and Spielberg have yet to do.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I dunno, most dvd extras are very generic. If you have seen one making of, youve seem em all. Though for older films they are generally better.
