They were pigeons by the way :P

THe dodo story makes me sad, i would have liked to see them in real life, same as the thylacine (tasmanian tiger/wolf). In reality i feel this way with all recent times exticnt species.

Dodo were easy to catch since they didnt know humans and couldnt fly. They were 'sitting ducks'. :(

Great Auk. Elephant bird. Moa. Some emu species. Baiji. North African elephant. Barbary lion. And many others :(

And when I look at the Pleistocene fauna that was lost all around the world I just want to cry.

barbary lions seem to exist still in some zoos.

I think i read that lions got exticnt in greece during the greek-roman ancient times.
