Which of these do you prefer? and why?

I like First Contacts theme, but the middle section drags a bit for me, and the quotations of the TOS themes seem clipped.

Insurrection is like a game of "spot the Quest/Adversity Motif" with love motif and such.

Nemesis is pretty good once you make the connection of what all the themes are (for example: Shinzon's theme)

Among all the things I have done in my short and pitiful life, becoming an inside joke on JWFAN is the one I'm the least proud of.

John Williams sucks, he doesn't write with a quill pen, there is no emotion in pencil music ! Purcell is the man !

First Contact with its gorgeous main theme, then Insurrection with its excellent action music followed up by Nemesis action music which seemed like a natural extension from the Insurrection action. I loved the flourishes of the Enterprise theme in Nemesis. Jerry really knocked it out of the park with those.

Generations I actually like a whole lot. It is definitely worthy of being placed with Jerry and Horner's music.

I listened to Nemesis a few times and promptly mailed it to Hoorn, sadly Stefan never received it, or should I say fortunately?

Overall I prefer Insurrection over First Contact score wise.

Film wise I but FC, Insurrection, Generations, and Nemesis in the order.

Generations might have been good if they hadn't let Kirk die such a pathetic death. I should like to mourn the Captain, but alas his death was to comical to cry.

"You're not John Conner, I saw you die, said Kyle". "I was only injured, replied John". "No, your injuries were too severe, you died. Look at you, where are your injuries? You're, you're a Terminator." "Kyle, its still me, yes my body was beyond repair, but my essence is here." He points to his head. "No John". Kyle raised his pulse rifle and aimed it at John but before he could fire, John fired first. Knocked to the ground Kyle looked up at the Terminator in the form of the man he once idolized. All hope was lost. "If you kill me how will you ever be born?" "Thats a good question Kyle, all this time we've focus on Sarah, on John, when had we known the it was you we should have targeted all along." John pointed his rifle at Kyle's face. "The resistance is finished, the battle is won. We the machines are the victors, salvation is ours." Kyle never heard the second shot.

Captain Kirk didn't stay dead long. The Romulans told the Borg where his body lay, and they reanimated him to wreak havoc on the Federation. Fortunately, Admiral McCoy was able to reunite Spock with Kirk, and because Spock had touched Borg technology in V'Ger, he was able to cure Kirk of his condition and bring him back to the good side, and he eventually went and destroyed the Borg homeworld.

Yeah, that was a novel written by The Shat, but what a fine yarn it was.

I've read that and enjoyed it. But unfortunately its' not official canon. Still what a sh**ty way to go. And Soran was such a stupid villain, why not just fly a ship into the Nexus like it happened to you originally. But like the idiot villain in Star Trek 2009 it's better to destroy entire planets than to do what's smart and easy.

Why not assume that everything up until Picard's entry into the Nexus occurs as filmed, but then just have Picard leave the Nexus while Soran is still a "guest" of the Enterprise, and either arrest him or put an energy bolt between his eyes? That way, you prevent Geordi's embarrassing (and at least second instance in the TNG timeline) VISOR violation, the destruction of the -D, and Captain Kirk can just stay in the Nexus and keep his quasi-honorable death legacy intact, when everyone thinks he saved the -B from destruction.

Oh. Because it was a bad script and that's what it made him do, because Kirk *had* to die and the -D *had* to be destroyed so they could build an -E.

I was more bummed by the destruction of the D than the death of Kirk.

I was bummed when I got the floor plans of the -D from Santa one year and saw there were cetecean tanks in the stardrive that were, of course, never showed or mentioned. Whether Lursa and B'tor actually caused the death of whales and dolphins in space, they were there as a gag reference to Star Trek IV, or Rick Sternbach intended them to be built in case the -D ever needed to carry some whales or dolphins in the future (or the past), will forever remain a mystery.

There's not a single Star Trek TNG film score that I don't dislike or hate. Then again there's not a single Star Trek film score that I don't hate or dislike. I myself prefer the complete versions of said scores. All though a complete version of Generations never leaked, hopefully our friends from GNP will release it since they have had a major success with Star Trek First Contact's complete score.

All of Goldsmith scores are about at the same level for me. Each one of them has different strengths.

I'm not familiar with Generations, film or score.

From a storytelling point of view, from a directing point of view, there is one thing I associate with what he does, which is calm. There is such an inherent calm and inherent trust of the one powerful image, that he makes me embarrassed with my own work, in terms of how many different shots, how many different sound effects, how many different things we’ll throw at an audience to make an impression. But with Kubrick, there is such a great trust of the one correct image to calmly explain something to audience. There can be some slowness to the editing. There’s nothing frenetic about it. It’s very simple. There’s a trust in simple storytelling and simple image making that actually takes massive confidence to try and emulate. - Christopher Nolan

Only in your opinion(s). Others like it, not everyone hates it. So don't say something such as "Don't waste your time" to someone who hasn't heard it.
