Track listing, anyone?

As I said before, it looks like something I want to get. I think this set has got everything I wanted from the series. It might go really fast as well (just as the first pressing of Vol. 1).

Is it really $60? If so, that's really expensive. I mean MOH box was something around that and had twice as much music (8 discs). Any idea how much the shipping might be?

From a storytelling point of view, from a directing point of view, there is one thing I associate with what he does, which is calm. There is such an inherent calm and inherent trust of the one powerful image, that he makes me embarrassed with my own work, in terms of how many different shots, how many different sound effects, how many different things we’ll throw at an audience to make an impression. But with Kubrick, there is such a great trust of the one correct image to calmly explain something to audience. There can be some slowness to the editing. There’s nothing frenetic about it. It’s very simple. There’s a trust in simple storytelling and simple image making that actually takes massive confidence to try and emulate. - Christopher Nolan

Oh Jesus, I forgot how brilliant the music of that series is.

Hi Everyone,

You can hear me talk about BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES with host Tim Burden on this week's "Movie Magic" show for the Q Radio Network. Our conversation begins at the 1 hr. 30 min. mark, and you'll also get to hear an exclusive suite of cues from Shirley Walker's masterful score to "The Laughing Fish."

And its all terrific stuff! I feel like I could just leave this set on a loop at work all week and never be bored an keep noticing thing I hadn't heard before. Great stuff.

Anyone who has a feel for my taste, would you recommend Walker's music? I've never seen the show. Heavily thematic, melodic?

Highly thematic and melodic. Pretty much all the vilains have their very distinctive themes, all of them great.

Sounds like my type of TV scoring. I'll probably buy Vol. 1 when I get some free cash and it's still around. There are some older releases that I need to get first.

No autograph, but that sucker's ordered! Can't wait for it to arrive. Love the sample from "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?" Good example of how robust and adventurous a sound Walker and crew were able to achieve for the series.

Did you e-mail them?

Karol

Ha! It has arrived (along with North's Dragonslayer). And yes, the autographs are here as well. However, the case is badly cracked. Though, that is an understatement, cause it's actually kind of falling apart. The discs are fine. Can't wait to give it a listen. I won't be able to do it before tomorrow, sadly.

My boxset also arrived today with the box on very bad shape. The discs themselves are fine, but it's a shame about the case

Mine too. Nearly through disc two ("Feat of Clay" awaits!), and I'm loving what I expected to love and surprised by episodes I wasn't anticipating as much. And so far I have to say: Harvey Cohen was a badass.

There is some really, really cool stuff on this set. But, as I said, there are about 5 hours of music here and I heard about 45 so far. Too busy today and tomorrow morning. It's funny how I can remember many of those themes and cues and yet I haven't seen most of these episodes since mid-90's.

Mine was wrapped in ridiculous amounts of bubble wrap. But hey, if Titanic couldn't beat Atlantic then certainly neither could a small packet. It fought bravely from the look of it, though... ;)

Although I doubt anybody would notice unless they did what I did . . . but I was watching the episodes putting the tracks in order. During this I noticed that tracks 11-18 on disc 2 need to be sped up by 4.2% (approximately) to match the speed and pitch in the episode. Now I found this interesting because it only happened with those tracks and not the source music for that episode. I'm curious what happened.

No autograph, but that sucker's ordered! Can't wait for it to arrive. Love the sample from "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?" Good example of how robust and adventurous a sound Walker and crew were able to achieve for the series.

It's surprising that Walker and her fellow composers were able to achieve such a big sound with only 20-40 players per episode. It sounded like they had twice that number, that's how good it was.
