Recent event have made me more concious of the fact that little humans who are called children exist.

We have some parents on this forum, I have a question.

At what moment did your child become a person to you? When did he/she become more then a small creature that just sleeps, drinks, cries and shits....

When did the first hint of an individual personality crop up? How old was he/she? What were the circumstances?

P.S. This thread could also function as a gathering point for other parenting talk. ;)

Steef has come to realize he needs something in life than babbling on a forum made up of discussion regarding the obscure fanbase of film music (plus the innuendos!)

Too bad there is more than one egg

In that case you're f*cked. There is nothing in the world worse than other people's snotty ass ugly whiny bratty kids. Unless they are aged from 0-2.

I'm sure you would have fun with my 9 month old.

9 month olds are awesome.

Anything up to 2 is awesome. It's once they stop being automatic cute things and start developing personalities based on their parentage and parenting that they become insufferable assholes.

Unless they are your own. ;)

Then you're like "OH MY GOSH YOUR NOSE IS RUNNING LET ME GET THAT FOR YOU WITH MY BARE HANDS AND WIPE IT ON MY JEANS."

I'm ok with all bodily functions at this point.

Isabelle started laughing at four months, though I'm told she bobbed her legs back and forth to music at three months. But yeah, six months seems to be the biggie for all things personality. Seems like ages ago now (she's 18 months today), and to be honest it just snowballs - every single day reveals something new about this little person in your life, it's constantly hilarious and cute as hell. Just last week my daughter rolled her eyes at me because I embarrassed her, and my response was to tell her it's something she'd better get used to ;)

You have a couple yourself, I understand?

Thinking about Izzy now, the most amusing thing she does - without fail - is throw her arms in the air and say BANG! right at the end of The Big Bang Theory intro :D

Posted

That's a massive smile!

I bet you're LOVING them being there. You'll miss them when they have to go I bet.

Well it wasn't the huge drag yes I figured it was going to be. ;)

The thing is they are always coming to me, probably because their mom runs a pretty tight ship and doesn't allow for much, my GF has been an Au-pair 4 times and has about a dozen smaller cousins and know how to control kids and I simply don't know what I'm doing and let them run wild on me. (one of then ended up punching me...for fun)

I did found out that my house is definitely...in no way childproofed. These kids find everything. From a pair of scissors to pain killers.

I do that mentally.

I love that photo Lee, you guys look great!

Yep, I'm just learning the basics of childcare. I have four kids.

Jeez, you're a braver man than I ;)

Two is all we can muster. No more after that!

So, at about 5-6 months he started showing some personality traits. He's got a little temper, loves to be tickled and honestly as Lee stated it just snowballs. He's almost walking, eeeeek. He babbles away and loves the cats. Thinks I'm a riot, yay!

I do want to have another child. But at this point in my life that is on hold.

But at this point in my life that is on hold.

Why? You just increase the chances of three heads or half a brain when you wait.

She's single, Blume

Correct, yes I'm single. And yes I realize time is not on my side. Oh well.

no, I would never go that route. Where's the fun in that.

You've still got time, Ren. And at the end of the day you've still got your little monster Big Bad Dom :)

I do, I know. And I'd rather have the fun now....

WHAT? DRAMA! Tell!

WHERE'S THE BABY DADDY? DID THE BASTARD LEAVE?

Is he dead? In that case god bless his soul and may I be forgiven for my insensitivity.

I'm always all ears when it comes to drama. I'm the gossip queen at the office, crowned so by the office ladies themselves.

I'm finalizing a divorce. His loss.

Just wanted to say, all the kids posted here are beautiful. Lucky fellows.

I was gonna say if he's not dead you should go on Jerry Springer. But then I realized you are from one of the Witch Burning States.

Not far south enough.

I'm a parent also. My son is 9 and my daughter is 7.. I'll see about posting a picture later.

I have a 9 year old daughter. Frankly, I'm not a baby person. They start to get really fun around 2 or 3. After that, each age is different and offers its own fun.
