Okay I'm going to cheat here but Bluray.com had some pics posted on their forum. They're better than I can do.

http://i141.photobuc...re/IMG_0944.jpg

I have not put it in yet.

Got it and watched it.

It looks tremendous, BUT the underwater scenes in the cage sequence were surprisingly blanched of color. Almost black and grey rather than the blue we're used to.

That's it!! I'm happy with my still brilliant looking DVD.

you're brilliant DVD was copied from a decayed print, the new Blu and DVD have been masterly restored for my viewing pleasure. About to put it in.
OH God, Joe is posting again, someone hand me my pills!

"You're not John Conner, I saw you die, said Kyle". "I was only injured, replied John". "No, your injuries were too severe, you died. Look at you, where are your injuries? You're, you're a Terminator." "Kyle, its still me, yes my body was beyond repair, but my essence is here." He points to his head. "No John". Kyle raised his pulse rifle and aimed it at John but before he could fire, John fired first. Knocked to the ground Kyle looked up at the Terminator in the form of the man he once idolized. All hope was lost. "If you kill me how will you ever be born?" "Thats a good question Kyle, all this time we've focus on Sarah, on John, when had we known the it was you we should have targeted all along." John pointed his rifle at Kyle's face. "The resistance is finished, the battle is won. We the machines are the victors, salvation is ours." Kyle never heard the second shot.

Worst Buy is really the only place in all the world offering the book packaging? Their stores had 2-4 copies each...??

My copy of 'Jaws' shipped from Amazon US today. It can't come soon enough!

No rush for me, I cancelled my amazon preorder to get the Best Buy version, but I can wait a week or two before I go pick one up.

Though of course E.T. will have to be a day one purchase!

Wow. Definitely gonna have to get the digitbook. Off to the $3 coupon site I go!

Yeah I got it today. Rip off at $25 but what the hell, it's Jaws.

I asked the lady if I could return the (paid online) digibook, and then re-purchase it to use the coupon. At first, she was going to do it, but then she scanned the coupon and the digibook and said the digibook wasn't eligible for the coupon. She could've been bullshitting me, but I didn't want to fight over it for 3 bucks.

She doesn't know what she's doing. Was she wearing a white shirt? Manufacturer coupons don't get scanned because they're not for those registers. You slip it under the register and manually enter it in after you hit 'Total.'

My old friend rung me up today so I had no beef.

In 50 years Herrmann will be forgotten.

She was a blue shirt at the customer service desk.

The bluray.com forum is freaking out over the digibook sellout.

They should be. It's the best packaging for the BD and from what I understand wasn't even available to most people in the world. Luckily, Canada has it.

After comparing to the DVD, I must retract my earlier quibble about the underwater sequences not being vibrant. They are very bit as colorful as the DVD image, but the clarity is unprecedented . Really an amazing restoration. So, ignore my earlier nitpick. It's a winner!

Also superb is the Shark is Still Working documentary. It has some really great nuggets, and in many ways, outdoes Bouzerau's doc. Really excited to finally see this, and now own it. A+.

Update: from the official Jaws Facebook page:

Jaws ‎Steven Feinberg: Demand outpaced expectations and more product will be arriving in stores over the upcoming days and weeks.

So it looks like more digibooks will be coming soon.

Just read the glowing write up for this on blueray.com, they say it's a stunning release, I cannot wait to get my hands on it! The screens look fantastic!

Also, I'm really glad they decided to bundle it with the hard fought love letter from the fans doc, The Shark is Not Working. That's good of Spielberg and Universal to pick it up and run with it.

I forgot to hit up my Best Buy early in the day. By the time I made it there, they were sold out—not just of the digibook, but of the blu-ray altogether. :| Guess I should've just stuck with Amazon.

trust me when I say it is stunning. It's a magnificant transfer. The colors are .....well Janus Kaminski has never seen colors like this.

I didn't have the trouble that Hedji did, I never noticed any washed out during the cage sequences,

I did notice one FIX. Or what I believe is a FIX

In the scene where Chrissie is being eaten and she's pulled under water only to resurface a few seconds later it always looked like a jarring edit. Now it's smooth, there is not obvious edit. I wish I had the dvd to see if I'm mistaken. I know that a boat is digitally erased later in an open water sequence but that doesn't bother me.

If it wasn't for the automobiles you would think this movie came out recently.

Sorry to double post, but I also found out thanks to that new documentary that the name of the book Brody flips through in the film with the cool artwork and disturbing images is called "Danger In The Sea" by Alec Fraser-Brunner. You can see it briefly on a display during the part where they showcase the cool artifacts from the film that are held at Martha's Vineyard. I've always been curious what book that was! It's of course very hard to find and fetches for a lot on Amazon on Ebay. Hope to get it somehow cheaper somewhere someday! :D

The scathing and idiotic reviews of the Digibook are coming in at Best Buy's website. This one is fun:

misleading 1.0 / 5.0
Posted by: ksc2012 on 08/15/2012
The title says "Collector's Series" which leads me to believe that it is all 4 movies (the entire series). This is WRONG. I drove all over trying to find a copy. Finally called a store on the other side side of town and drove out there to find out it is only the first Jaws. If it isn't the series, it shouldn't say that on the cover.

ROTFLMAO

I needed to be in this part of town anyways, so I stopped at Best Buy after work, sometime after 6, to raid their Jaws Blu-Ray selection. They didn't have a dedicated cardboard display, and there were no Jaws Blu-Rays of either type, digibook or normal, to be seen on the shelf between Iron Lady and J. Edgar or wherever in the alphabet it should have been. They did have the new edition DVD. Whoopiee.

After ten minutes of salespeople ignoring me, I finally stopped one guy who checked inventory. Three at that location. Bingo. We went back to the shelf, where I had previously proved that it wasn't to be found, and I started rifling through the displays that face you, thinking someone may have hidden it for a friend (though I would have hidden it at the far end of the store, so this was stupid). Salesman B comes by, asks what we're looking for, and says they're out. I start to get mad and insist that the system says you have three. So I'm thinking, you've got thieves or bad inventory trackers, either one of which suck. He checks up front and comes back empty -- I had already been there -- and FINALLY decides to check the stockroom.

It came to $29.09 with the coupon, which is far more than I wanted to spend for ONE movie, but this movie is worth it. I don't see making gotta-get-the-special-BR-package-within-the-first-week part of my normal life.

@Wojo: stop being facetious.

BBY's inventory system is absolute shit. Those little customer kiosks that give you an exact number used to screw me over all the time.

Wojo, they have a dedicated section for new releases, usually near the registers, and definitely separate from the rest of the alphabetical Blus.

While I may have bought my first BluRay today, it was not my first time inside a BestBuy. This place did not have Jaws in their new releases section. Their new releases section was swallowed by The Lorax and Hunger Games, and plenty of other movies that don't involve a fake-looking shark.

Whatever, the company is shit. My brother had a worse time tracking down a copy. After hearing how so many people are unable to get one, I'm surprised I found it so easily.

Why was yours $30? Was $25 for me, minus the $3 coupon which got negated by tax.

Yes, I suppose I layered the annoyed sarcasm on rather thick. Sorry about that, you were only trying to help seeing as how they used to punch your time card.

Last week the digibook was $24.99. This week, it jumped up to $29.99 which will probably be its normal price for a while. The digibook of Gettysburg: The Director's Cut is still at that price, and since that restores 17 minutes, it's a must-get for me. All the coupon did was take off the tax. I figured I better get it now before it disappears and it's $60+ on eBay.

The checkout guy was annoyed because he wanted it and thought they were sold out.

@Wojo: stop being facetious.
