Oh, wow, I don't remember all these alternates. As a rule of thumb, I tend to prefer the pieces from the Rarities Archive as pieces of pure music - i.e. "Flight to the Ford" and "Sammath Naur." But I see how the film versions were more cinematically effective. Also, I love the CR/OST version of "The Argonath," even though the original version with the Gondor theme was a fine piece.

Well I obviously left out, Theatrical Vs. Extended Edition cues, but That would be too much typing, my arm was already sore as it was!

Just for the record, I'd prefer a combo of the two versions of "The Wolves of Isengard," but if I have to pick one, I prefer the choral passage in the OST.

If you go to see The Two Towers: Live To Projection in concert, they do just that: It features both choir AND hardinger during that part. It's AWESOME

The Extended Editions each have a documentary with Howard Shore, about the score, TTT's documentary has some stuff unreleased, for example, a version of Nature's Reclamation, without choir.

The FOTR DVD main menu, has a version of the Ring theme with a clean opening (I think) and has the Cello's divided into octaves.
