Surprised Soderbergh isn't using one of his regulars for this one. Cliff Martinez would have probably churned out something great; actually listening to Contagion right now.

Thomas Newman scored Erin Brockovich and The Good German for Soderbergh, Koray

Roger Ebert praises the score in the first paragraph of his review.

Indeed he does and also later in the review points out that without the score it would be a different movie.

I thought the same thing, that doesn't mean it's a quality score in term's of listening quality but of it's effect on the film.

The movie looks like a modern Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Hyde?

When did he last praise a score so much?

I'd like to see how effective this score is in context.

Posted

Anyone remember what that score was?

If Ebert mentions a score, its always in the context of its effectiveness in the film.

Its been a few years since he considered a score jaw-dropping! ;)

I see what you did there.

I think this may be the first Newman CD I buy. It works wonders in the film, and it's just hypnotic and beautiful.

I think alicebrallice will love it too.
